IMAP password different from Webmail

I am a former Cox customer.  I had to disconnect due to moving from service area nearly a year ago.  My email is working, but is about to be disconnected.  I have downloaded Thunderbird and been successful downloading my wifes historic email locally.  When I try mine it seems that my IMAP password is different from my webmail password.  Your technical team has told me there is nothing that can be done about it.  I really need to download my historic email.  Can someone help me?

  • Hi Jeffplatt,

We aren't able to reset the passwords for email addresses no longer linked to Cox accounts with active service.

Have you tried resetting the password yourself? Since you disconnected so long ago, I'm not sure if it will work. Go to Click on the "Sign In" button to display the full "Sign In" box. Underneath the boxes for User ID and Password, look for "Forgot User ID / Password?" and click on the word "Password".
