I am not getting the internet speed that I am paying for.

I have had this problem for around a year and a half.. I have had several tech's out and still have this problem. I am paying for 150 mps but when I do a speed check it never is 150. Most of the time around 50 mps . Sometimes lower .Once in a while I might reach 90 mps but rare . My modem is a Arris Touchstone TG2472  . I am wired straight in from my computer to the wireless modem. They have changed modems .Checked the wiring inside and out. I have called many times but feel I get the run around but the problem remains .I hate to call Cox.It's a waste of time I've been told (over the phone) My computer is too old.. It is a Samsung Satellite with an Intel I3 in it. I am also told. The speed is up to 150 Mps . But I think getting a third  of what Iv"e paid for is crazy. They use the up to 150 Mps every time. .Also I have to be close to the modem to pic up the single. I bought my house new and have had it about 12 years. I never had any problems until about 1 year and a half ago. I don't know if I should drop my speed down to 50 Mps instead of 150 Mps. because I never get that. But afraid if I do it just won't work. I've been with Cox around 20 years . I would hate to go to another provider to see if they would be able to resolve this problem. Like I said ..I've been with cox Over 20 years.

Thank you and any help would be deeply appreciated

Just upgraded service from 50 mps to 100 mps.  Well I'm getting 4 mps...that FOUR. I haven't tested the ethernet yet and i realize that running the test over WIFI is not recommended but come on FOUR MPS DOWNload.  My upload speed is even higher than that/. Also, my server is saying LA... i live in Phoenix.

Creating ongoing issues for me trying to work from home.  Tech Support at my job said i dropped 50 then 94 packet loss during our 7 minute conversation--this is with a wired connection. It can't be my VPN all the time since i've had 4 different work from home jobs since I've been with COX.  Funny how all but 1 of those employers suffered from Cyber security intrusions not long after I started there.  I can't seem to get any support tech to ever check my settings for my router. they avoid it like the plague yet they send me emails saying I have a virus.  Mcafee Security seems pretty useless. for me since it never finds anything .  I'm over it...this is ridiculous.

@Starmanlives Do you have a gigabit ethernet port on your computer or is it the old 100Mbps port? If you don't have a gigabit ethernet port you wont get anything higher than the max limit of 100.

On Microsoft Windows, open up Control Panel, go to networking ,and look at the Local area connection. If it does not say

1.0 Gbps then you are limited by that.
