how do I get TiVo series 2 to work with a cox cisco 250hd mini box

I see many forums, but no answers and nothing since 2015. Phoenix just made everyone change to the Mini box. I have tried for hours and hours and days and days, did anyone find out the exact box to use or the a correct code? I have both the blasters and I special ir cord that goes from the TiVo to the back of the Cisco box (ir in) I have tried both with several different box names. RCA, Scientific, pace, Thomson, evolution, and a bunch of others. Someone told me to use the Explorer, which is not an option on my TiVo. I asked Tivo and they sent me some of the instructions which I read and have seen in here somewhere, tried again, and still can not find. I see Comcast has an actual Comcast DTA box on the list. (tried it also). Is there something I am missing? Can someone please help. I do not understand why TiVo cannot get the Cisco 250HD mini box in the system. Do I need a new box? Plus, why can't I reply to the other forums? There is not a reply button. Maybe I am just having a bad week. Thanks! Cheri

cheri1234, I also live in Phx and have a Tivo series two (with lifetime contract). It looks to me like Tivo is ignoring lifetime contracts and trying to force us into upgrading. First they discontinued Tivo Desktop and replaced it with something that looks quite superior, but doesn't support series two dvr's. Now, I've read somewhere in the support forums, Cox has supplied Tivo with all the info regarding Cisco mini box IR codes, but apparently Tivo has no interest in doing anything to support series two. I imagine Tivo has a fine print loophole in the contract that lets them do anything they want, and Cox seems determined to bleed us dry just to watch digital TV. My tv can process the digital signals from (free) over the air broadcasters with just a cheap antenna, but to utilize the "purely digital" signals from Cox, it must be connected to their proprietary ("free" -  for a year) cable box. I say "a pox on both their houses". I'm going to cut the cord and go with OTA and internet TV.

    Cheri,

I forgot to answer your question "Plus, why can't I reply to the other forums? There is not a reply button."

Cox has locked those threads regarding the series 2 problem. This is usually done when an issue has been resolved, as further posts would be pointless, but in this case, I think it just got to the point that Cox had done all they could, and it is up to Tivo to provide the (easy) solution. However, it appears that they are bent on alienating their oldest and most loyal customers. In my opinion, when Tivo was first introduced, it was very innovative and changed the way people watched tv, but they've never advanced, and some of their basic programming just **! For instance, we have a "now playing" list, but why can't we create a playlist? And if you're not quick to respond at the end of a show, it drops to LIVE TV on whatever channel it last recorded. Why not start playing shows on the now playing list? Those are the ones I want to watch, not LIVE TV! Well, I could go on, but I won't.

    cheri1234,

We lock post that are over 30 days old to encourage keeping the threads active. What exactly is going on with your service? Are you not able to get a picture on the TV?

Hi Stephanie, The problem is Cox is making use a mini box now for basic service. My box is a Cisco 250hd. I have a Tivo Series 2, with lifetime service. My TiVo does not take a cable card. I need to choose which cable/digital box I am using in a set up menu so TiVo can change the channel and record my shows. The cox Cisco box does not show on the TiVo menu. I have contacted TiVo and they sent me instructions to try Evolution, and some others, that failed and they told me how to get to the advanced screen and enter some codes they suggested, which was a couple different ones, they were something like 10400 there are a few others, So here I am. I paid $25 for an ir cord to go from the cisco cox box to the TiVo, because someone said the TiVo ir blasters were two big for the Cox box. But that did not work either. I have spend about 50 hours trying to get this working. I guess I need to know if there is a different name for the Cisco box or if you have an ir code that would work for remotes and TiVo. I hear most universal remotes do not work either. If you can help me that would be great!

cheri1234 i apologize but I do not have new information for you regarding the remote codes.  Tivo should have the ability to update the remote codes on it's series 2 receivers.
