Fuzzy picture

I just got a new Cisco brand hi def cable box from Cox.  The pictures on all channels are fuzzy, and the printed text appears to have horizontal lines going through the letters.  Adjusting the sharpness on the TV does not help.  I did not have these problems with the old box.
