Firmware notification

How do I get rid of that annoying box that has lately been popping upon the TV screen announcing that firmware has been updated and to set up new features to complete. To begin with, I don't know what firmware is and there is no place in the "setting" button that mentions firmware. Any assistance would be welcome.

    Sounds like you may have a smart TV that's getting firmware messages our cable boxes just sends out updates. What the make and model number on your TV?
