What is the difference between enable and disable "auto favorites" ?

  • Hi Redsox,

The Auto-Favorites feature should not impact your ability to "scroll" through your list of favorite channels. I tested the feature on a Rovi DVR in the Call Center. I disabled Auto-Favorites and manually added a bunch of channels to the Favorites list. I'm then able to scroll through all 16 Favorite channels by repeatedly pressing the FAV button on the remote. After this test was successful, I went back into the Settings and enabled Auto-Favorites. I'm still able to use the FAV button to scroll through my list of favorite channels.

We previously stated that disabling Auto-Favorites would also disable the FAV button on the remote. This is incorrect, and I apologize! I believe the Auto-Favorites feature is "enabled" by default. Please try the following steps:

    1. Disable Auto-Favorites.
    2. Add a few more channels to your Favorites list.
    3. Exit out of the Menu.
    4. Change the TV to the lowest channel number on your Favorites list. (Example: channel 2.)
    5. Repeatedly press the FAV button on the remote.

Are you able to cycle through your entire list of Favorite channels?

    Hi redsox,

Are you referring to this option on a receiver or with the app? What model receiver do you currently have?

Motorola DCH3416 dual DVR HD box. On the remote in the menu section under Preferences.

    redsox,

For that model receiver, the only auto option I see is for 'Auto-Tune to HD'. Are you able to provide a screenshot of what you're seeing?

Thank you redsox. The 'Enabled' auto favorites option allows you to surf through your set of favorite channels using the favorites button on your remote. If the option 'Disabled' is selected, it temporarily disables the button on the remote.

Renee, that is correct but when enabled it does something else that I don't think it should. Every time you watch a channel that I haven't added to my favorites list, it adds it automatically and I"m sure it shouldn't. If I disable auto favorites it won't auto add but then I'm unable to surf through my favorites.

  • redsox,

Auto Favorites being enabled in your settings should build a list of favorite channels automatically when you manually tune to different channels. You should still be able to scroll through your favorites using the "fav" button even if Auto Favorites is disabled.

    ColleenD,

It only lets me scroll thru 8 of my 16 favs when it is disabled. In order to scroll thru all of them it must be enabled, but then, like you said, it adds every channel that I tune to.
