Why does my email sometimes dump thousands of emails into my inbox?  I check it everyday, and usually get no more than 75 to 100 emails.  Then about once a week it dumps about 2-3 thousand past and deleted emails back into my Outlook inbox.  What can I do to prevent this?

It sounds like you may have your Outlook setup to be a POP client configured to leave all messages on the server. If that is the case you might find configuring Outlook as an IMAP client more preferable. When you do that all changes you make to your emails are synchronized with the server and then across any other devices you have that may use IMAP.
