Does your email end with @cox.net? Also, are you having a problem both sending and receiving email? Last, what settings are you using for email on your phone and what kind of phone is it?
I wonder if you are trying to send email for a Cox username through Verizon's SMTP server. They recently stopped allowing that. If it's a Cox.net username, you have to use smtp.cox.net with SSL on port 465 and with password authentication.
