Email Forwarding

When forwarding email from a cox email account, is it possible to forward only emails in the Inbox. Currently, Spam is also being forwarded, which I don't want as it screws up my reporting of them.

    loaded4th,

The option to forward messages in webmail is available only to messages going to your inbox. You can set up a rule to either forward and keep a copy of the email or forward and discard the email. What are you trying to accomplish with your messages?

I've set up a user account for specific emails. When I'm away from home it's nice to have all of my emails forwarded to a single account. I generally forward and keep a copy, but regardless of what you say about only going to my inbox, email in the Spam folder gets forwarded to my spam folder in GMail.

I report all email received through SPAMCOP, and at times I've mistakenly used a forwarded email in GMail to report through SpamCop.

I don't use Webmail for viewing email as I prefer the security, control and backup using an IMAP client.

When I go to the Settings | Forwarding area of Webmail, I use Forward and keep a copy.

Finally, I did not receive any emails to this post, and by chance happened to see a reply listed in the main forum. I do have this feature turned on.

  • Hi Loaded4th,

What are your current SpamBlocker Settings in Webmail? The options are as follows:

    • Delete incoming junk email automatically — You can set Spam Blocker to identify unwanted email and remove it before you ever see it. There is a small chance that this option may delete an item that you wish to keep — for example, a subscription newsletter.
    • Deliver junk email to the WebMail Spam folder for later review — Spam Blocker identifies unwanted email and delivers it to a Spam folder in WebMail. Mail in the Spam Blocker folder is deleted 21 days after receipt.
    • Tag junk email with -- Spam -- in the subject line and deliver to your inbox — The word "Spam" appears in the subject line. The email is not moved or deleted from your Inbox.

    Hi Loaded4th,

Do you have anything in Message Filters under the Webmail Settings?

With the Forwarding setting it would be all incoming mail to the account which would take effect before they are filed in other folders in a filter or by spam. You can use the message filter to be more specific on what emails you want it to forward however. By going under settings on Webmail and going under settings and message filters. From there you will see a New Filter button that will allow you to set rules on what messages you want effected and setup a forwarding address for those emails rather then all or nothing that forwarding everything.

    Thanks

I had forgotten about the filter which I have used in the past, but that was when Spam had more distinctive subjects and sources.

It seems I only have one actionable feature, which limits the filtering, but I guess the following will work providing Spam messages are marked as SPAM before the filter

If Subject - does not contain - Spam - Forward to xxxx@gmail.com
