DNS Typos
When I make a typo in entering an address, COX hyjacks the error and prevents me from making the easy fix to my error and re-entering the request.
I want the hijacker turn off.
How do I do that.

You can opt out of enhanced error results service by following instructions here.
Also, you can use a different DNS provider like OpenDNS or Google. Either opting out or switching DNS providers should solve your problem.
Note that the opt out option requires cookies to be enabled and stored. If you allow session cookies only that delete on exit or have cookies disabled the opt out will revert to opt in by default.
Switching to a public DNS eliminates that possibility.
