Cox removed MSNBC from Starter Package early November 2017

Cox removed MSNBC from Starter Package nationwide in early November 2017.  Why?

Cable viewers must now subscribe to the Essential Package - part of Contour - for about $60 more than the Starter Package to get MSNBC.

Meanwhile Fox News is still available in the Starter Package.  This move to make MSNBC more expensive to view than Fox News seems designed to favor Fox News political views over MSNBC political views.

  • Both MSNBC and Fox News have been in the TV Economy or higher level of service. They have not been in the starter level of service. The TV Economy level of service has been grandfathered in and is no longer an option for new or current customers to switch to. Essential or higher is required to view either of these channels.
