Cox blocking NDIA.org

I cannot get to www.ndia.org. I get error message “Access Denied. Error code 16. This request was blocked by the security rules.” I work with NDIA routinely, and they have reviewed the list of “Internet Ports Blocked or Restricted by Cox.” NDIA is a standard website, not using any of those ports. They have also checked their site with Norton Safe Web and McAfee TrustedSource, both showing no issues. Can you tell me specifically why NDIA is blocked and what they can do to allow Cox customers to access the site?

  • Hi DrOz,

I'm able to access www.ndia.org while connected to the Cox residential network. What operating system and internet browser are you using? Does your browser have any built-in (or add-on) adware? Are you using any security software on your PC?

    Becky,

    So a couple of notes:

    1. I mainly run Mac OS 10.12.6

    2. My primary browser is Safari with out add ins

    3. I can access ndia.org outside of my home network without changes to any device

    4. all the in home devices show the same error both Apple and Microsoft

    5. I haven't changed my router configuration in probably 5 years. (Franky I don't remember how to access it).

    6. each device has a different AV package installed.

    7. The issue started sometime earlier this year.

    8. I've experienced the same dropped connection and high latency as many others who have posted on the forum.

Have you considered that someone is highjacking COX DNS requests and redirecting them?

The error code you described sounds like you're successfully reaching the site but they are blocking you or more specifically your connection for some reason. I'd suggest reaching out to their technical point of contact to investigate further.

    Chris,

I have they suggested this forum to assist in resolution. What information do you need from them?

The error you're seeing looks like they're blocking you and not us. My suggestion would be to reach out to them and ask why they're blocking you if they are.

    Chris,

I'm in contact with NDIA's technical lead. They are not blocking me. What needs to happen is; a technical person from COX, NDIA and myself need a conference to determine where the issue is. How can we make that happen?

The message you're seeing is from the host that ndia.org uses which shows that it is not being blocked by us. I suspect they may have blocked your Internet connection due to some sort of security issue but can't say for sure. The following may help ndia.org's technical support research further.
