couture, remote setup with receiver types

Just upgraded to couture, I have an older Sony receiver, IR. remote for it. we had it installed by a cox tech. the receiver cannot be controlled by the couture XR11 remote, want to up grade to a Marantz receiver for the surround sound. All i want, is to at least control  the volume and the On/Off on the receiver by the XR11 couture remote. or do any of you all know of a receiver that will let me do that. Just want to turn it off and on, and turn it up and down.

I assume you are talking about the Contour 2 system not couture.

The XR11 will control an audio device.  You can search for Marantz and enter the model number into the code finder here.  Then follow the instructions for programming on that page.  You can also check to see if they have a code for your Sony receiver.

thanks I will try, just frustrated,  the techs were sub contractors and could not speak English, not Spanish I don't know what it was. left my house with the alarm system disconnected. wires everywhere. and the internet not working correctly. the next pair of subs dug my new lawn up and put in a new line, and told me I has a house wiring problem. i got the security folks out and they changed out some connectors outside the house and everything is ok. that cost me a few hundred bucks. been on the on line chat and they could not help with the remote. i will keep trying. but thanks for the link. i am going to make it work.

    thanks again

I feel your pain, T Green, I've dealt with contractors from 3 cableco's, including Cox.  Never had a good experience.  They don't want to do any work but get a signoff so they can collect their $$$.

I haven't upgraded to Contour 2 yet, still on original Contour.  I use a Harmony 650 to control my home entertainment system.    I need to control 5 devices, a TV, a Pioneer AVR, a blu-ray player, an Apple TV and my Contour DVR.  The XR11 won't cut it ... only controls 3 devices and forces input select to control the TV.  I have all hdmi inputs going to the AVR and one AVR output to the TV.  Forcing me to select my input on the TV is useless to me.  I'm not sure Harmony supports Contour 2 yet.

You should be able to power on/off and adjust volume on an AVR with the XR11.  Just don't try to change AVR input, won't work.  Whoever designed it must have thought you will only have the Contour DVR in your system.  Also, if you have a smart TV, don't think the XR11 can control the apps, you have to keep the original TV remote around to do anything but the basics.
