Contour mini box

First off.. My modem went out is why I went to the COX solutions store.  Got a new modem.  The representative said you are eligible for cable upgrades. SO I said go ahead.  She gave me contour hd 2 I believe and a Contour mini box.  Got home connected the Contour in the living room and had some problems but got it fixed.  The Mini box is not connecting. It says the device needs to be activated before continuing.  I have been without television in my bedroom for 4 days.  What can be done?
