Contour 2 Record 6 DVR on but no output

I recognize that the power button on the remote does not power off the DVR.  But if we power off our audio receiver and TV with the remote before going to sleep, when we attempt to power all devices back on in the morning, there is no signal coming out of the DVR. The only way to watch the DVR is to use the physical power button on the front of the DVR to turn off the device and turn it back on.

Does anyone have a solution to this problem?

We had tried pressing the Contour, Guide, and Info buttons, but there was still no reaction from the receiver.  The only thing that seemed to work was pressing the power button on the front panel to turn it off.  Then the same button to turn it on.  But we can try again.

Pressing the power button will only turn off the TV. The box will then go into an energy saving mode or sleep mode if you will. There's no reason to push the power button on the front of the Contour box.

Yes, I understand there is no reason I should have to press the power button.  But how do I get the Contour box to output signal after it has been off overnight?  Again, when we turn on the TV and audio receiver in the morning, there is no signal (sound or video) coming out of the Contour box even though the blue power ring is on.

Scott C,  the Contour box is going into a power save mode.  This can give you more information on how that works.  http://bit.ly/C2Power  I have tested the feature & pressing "last" or "exit" on the remote wakes up the Contour box from the power save mode as well.

This is exactly how I expected it to work.  But on multiple occasions (not all occasions), the Contour 2 box would not wake with any press of any button on the remote.  I don't know why and it sounds like this is unexpected.  So I guess if I'm the only one experiencing this problem, I must have a bad Contour 2 Record 6 DVR.

How does Cox handle this situation?

As stated in the article, when you press the All Power button on the remote, it will turn on the receiver, TV and audio device.

Right.  But what should I do if the remote powers on the TV and the audio receiver, but my TV shows "no signal" and there is no audio even though the blue power ring on the Contour 2 DVR is on?

Please don't point me (again) to an article that explains that the receiver is in power save mode and that I just need to press a button on the remote.  I've pressed the buttons.  But there is no signal from the Contour 2 and it won't wake up unless we press the power button on the front to turn it off and back on.

Please note that this does not happen every time.  This happens only occasionally after it has been in power save overnight.

I'm wondering if when you go to power up the TV, audio receiver and the box, if all of this equipment is in the same range when you press the power button, sometimes you may need to hold the power button down for 2-3 seconds. If that's not the case and all three devices are in the range of where you're pointing the remote then we may need to consider sending a field tech out to see what's happening. If you'd like to go that route, please send an email with a day and a time frame that will work best for you.
