Contour 2 and IR Support

Hi, does Contour 2 support IR remote connectivity?  If so how can I activate it?

  • Hi Chug66,

The XR11 Voice Remote has both RF and IR capabilities. The color of the LED light on the remote indicates whether the remote is operating in IR or RF mode.

In paired RF mode, the remote blinks twice—once when a command is sent (GREEN), and again when the receiver confirms receipt (GREEN). If a command is sent in RF mode, but the receiver does not confirm the command, the LED blinks GREEN, then RED. If a command is sent in IR mode, the LED blinks RED one time.

To reset the remote to IR mode, press the Setup Key until the light turns Green, and then press 987. Please let us know if you have further questions. We’re happy to help in any way that we can!

    Hi thanks for the response,

How do I get the Contour 2 Box to accept IR commands?  I have a Logitech Harmony (universal remote) that only uses IR.

If I try this and it does not work, how to I program the remote back to RF?

  • Hi Djonesokc and Chugg66,

There are several Contour 2 remote codes that can be used to change the mode of operation of the remote control.

    • To unpair the remote, hold the Setup button until the LED turns green, and then press 9 8 7. If the code is entered successfully, the LED will blink green two times. The remote will be unpaired and operate in IR mode.

    • To reset the TV IR code, hold the Setup button until the LED turns green, and then enter 9 8 6. If the code is entered successfully, the LED will blink green two times, and the remote will no longer be able to control the television.

    • To factory reset the remote, hold the Setup button until the LED turns green, and then enter 9 8 1. If the code is entered successfully, the LED will blink green two times. This indicates the remote has been reset to factory defaults. All RF pairing information and TV control will be reset and the remote will operate in IR mode.

If you are trying to program a universal remote and can't seem to find the right code, try the codes for Comcast Xfinity boxes. We use some of the same hardware, and I believe the Logitech Harmony universal remote is pre-programmed to support Comcast Xfinity receivers. Let me know if this information helps!
