Connection Type

I recently bought a new Asus router to replace my old dying one. In going through the setup process, the web GUI tool asked for the connection type in regard to the IP address. Does cox use one type, or would the type vary between locations and customers?

I'm not sure about connection types specifically but you'll want to choose the option that configures your router to obtain an IP address automatically.  Note this will not work until you reset the modem if you haven't done so already.

If you mean the "WAN Connection Type" then that would be "Automatic IP" as seen in this emulator. You may not have that model, but it should be the same thing.

    dhcp is what you want

The reason I said "Automatic IP" instead of DHCP (which is more technically accurate) is because that is the phasing they use in Asus router GUI. I know because I have one too.
