Cisco IR extender cable (also from Cisco) doesn't work. Remote does, but plugged in cable does not (have replaced twice)

What model cable receiver are you trying to install? What kind of cable have you replaced twice; the coax cable from the outlet to the receiver, or the coax/HDMI connecting the receiver to the TV? What is the Cisco IR extender cable needed for? Do you have a TiVo? If so, what model? The answer to these questions will help us help you.
