Cannot connect to FTP site

Since getting Cox internet I can no longer connect to an FTP site. The permissions from my new IP address have been added to the FTP's approved list with all permissions but I still get errors. I verified the login and passwords are correct.

       PASS (password not shown)

530 Login authentication failed

I temporarily turned off my firewall to see if that was it but still not connecting.

Thanks in advance.

  • Hey Rekd,

530 auth failed error indicates a successful connection, it's seems like the FTP server is the issue. You may want to reach out to them for additional troubleshooting.

Thanks Shariel, I reached out to the owner of the site some time ago. He assured me that my new IP address is added to the white list. Is there something else I can suggest they look at to resolve the issue?

Shariel, the FTP owner completely flushed the brute force and IP tables, and whitelisted my IP address so I should have complete, 100% access to the server.

Does Cox route IP addys or ports, or trigger other ports for FTP traffic?

I'm having a similar issue, I cannot connect to a particular FTP address at my webhost GoDaddy.  I was on the phone with them for an hour yesterday, they assure me that my home IP isn't blocked and suggest that my ISP (COX) is blocking my FTP to that address.

Other people can connect to my FTP site and I can connect to it from other places just not from my home connection via Cox.

I CAN connect to other FTP addresses so I'm confident it's not my firewall or router causing the problem.
