Cannot connect to Cox smtp server

I can see where there have been years of problems with this primarily with Mac Mail users... after several years of no problems, suddenly three days ago I started to get the same problem message... cannot connect to cox smtp...

What is up with this and why is it still not resolved?

    One thing you could try is removing and re-adding the SMTP server settings to see if that corrects the problem. Are there any more error details provided that may help us understand the nature of the problem?

    Having the same issue with my I-Phone, everything was working fine last week and now I can not send. This issue applies to 2 different email accounts. Settings have been checked, everything re-inputted, password verified and both server ports attempted. After making a change the verification process fails for SMTP each time. Everything works fine using webmail.

    Please try completely deleting any of the Cox email addresses that you're using on your phone and then re-add them. It's important to let the phone take care of the settings. Please reach back out here if you still have trouble afterwards.

    Deleted and re added the account. Still getting the SMTP error.

    There is an outage at the time of THIS reply. I just got off the phone with Support.

  • I, too, cannot connect to the smtp server. I've not changed my password but it's not recognizing the password and I'm not able to send emails. Any suggestions?

    If you're using a non-Cox Internet connection I'd suggest trying to sign into your http://www.cox.com account and see if you're prompted for 2 factor authentication. If so, email should work again once that process is completed.
