Call History Past 120 days requires court order?

I did chat on "Phone Tools Support" with Gabriel G who informed me that if I needed copies of my call history beyond the 120 day limit allowed on the site I would have to go to the Cox Store.  In addition he wrote "You will also need a legal judge order so they can provide you with this information."

I need copies of my records from period 9 month prior--and he is saying I need a court order to obtain them??   Please tell me this is not accurate and correct information.  Next question...WHY the 120 day limit?  Other providers don't impose such a tight window.
