CABLE TV

I JUST HAD AN UPGRADE TO MY CABLE ACCOUNT AND WENT TO CONTOUR TV. IT BLINKS OFF AND ON SEVERAL TIMES WHILE WATCHING TV. SOME TIME THE SOUND GOES OFF BY ITSELF AND MOST OF THE TIME BOTH THE SOUND AND PICTURE GOES OFF FOR ABOUT 3-5 SECONDS. THIS WS GOING ON WITH MY OLD BOX AN THEY THOIUGHT THIS WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM, BUT IT HASN'T. A FEW WEEKS AGO WE WERE WITHOU TV HERE FOR 3-DAYS. IT TURNED OUT OT BE BAD CABLES. I BELIEVE ONE OF THE LINES IS BAD . I NEED THIS CHECKED OUT.

    Who are they...Cox?  You were having audio/video interruptions with your previous box, and Cox said the only way to fix it was to upgrade your service?  Cox duped you.

    Yes, it is probably a defective cable, but I'd first suspect a bad HDMI cable.  If you've got another one, try swapping it.  If you don't have another, don't spend more than $15 for a new one.  Better yet, Cox should give you one for the bad advice.

    You could also have a bad cable splitter, if you have one.  Or there could another, previously-stashed spliitter hidden behind your wall plate.

    If you still have the problems after swapping the cable and splitter, then I'd call Cox to test the line.

    Are these symptoms occurring on all TVs connected to a Cox cable box, or just one? Are all channels affected, or just specific channels? We'll get to the bottom of this for you!
