Cable box died this AM, can I get basic channels without the box?

I tried to reset the cable box and it did not help. It just keeps powering off and making a bunch of clicking sounds.  Our other cable box on another TV and internet works fine so we are getting service. Tried to take box to Cox today but they are closed. I thought I could get basic channels when direct connected (without box), but nope. I did remember to change the input to cable instead of the HDMI we were using from the box.

Any ideas?

    It sounds like replacing the cable box is a good idea. I'm so sorry the store wasn't open on Sunday! Solutions Stores in your area are open 10 am - 7pm Monday through Friday, and 10am - 5pm on Saturdays. Find the Solution Store nearest you at www.cox.com/aboutus/contact-us/cox-centers.cox.
