Bringing Cox TV to my PC

Hello I am a PC gamer, I haven't watched TV for over a decade. But I am very avid in to racing in fact I do racing simulators/games but would like to watch races on my PC and some shows as well, using Cox cable. I have a AverTVHD Bravo pci-e card, it gave me the basic over the air channels back some time ago. But just can't get any racing with it.

My question is I just picked up one of the new mini boxes today but need to know if it will work with the card that I have or would I need to buy a different one for the box too work with my PC I am still running win7 pro 64bit. And have a top end PC I built my self. Any info would be greatly appreciated, thank you

It should work. You would want to set the tuner to NTSC and tune it to channel 3/4, depending on the switch on the back of the mini box. Any automated recording software won't work though because you will have to manually change the channel on the mini box to record different channels.

Thank you I just tried this link you shared with me but I don't watch cartoons any more.lol  Fot some reason it is not allowing me any exsess  to movies or TVshow not even the sport does not show any options to open them looks like it would be neat to use. But thank you just the same wees41 I will have to check in to some more tomorrow.

if you try it again you need to go to the top pulldown menu and select guide it defaults to kid shows

  • Hi Azdag,

The mini box only provides access to the channels in the Cox TV Starter and TV Essential lineups. Is there a particular channel that you are looking for in regards to racing?

Cool thanks I did get it work but the every 3 second control pop up is driving my ocd crazy and can't turn it off so I will try to get the box to work until I can get my tivo out of my storage locker of course I bought it back in 2005~6. Just haven't used it for some either. But thank you for your help.

Azdag, if it's a Tivo Series2 you will still need a minibox or other STB.  The Series2 doesn't support cable cards.  AFAIK, Series3 and later do support cable cards and should work by just renting one from Cox.
