Blue light on XG1-A
The blue light on the XG!-A stays on all the time. Elsewhere I read that the power goes into "sleep" mode when the power button on the remote is used to turn off the TV. Is there any external indication that it's in sleep mode?

To turn off the XG1-A receiver, you would need to press the power button on the receiver, as there isn't a way to do so with the remote. If the power is off to the receiver, you may use the remote to power back on.
No sleep mode, but there's a way to adjust the brightness and the LED light display through the receiver settings. If you set the LED to not light up when the power is on, this may make it difficult to determine if the receiver is off or on.
