blocked two numbers, now nobody can call me

I recently blocked two callers and since then everyone who calls receives the "the number you have reached is not accepting calls" message. Any ideas what went wrong here? I would like to leave the two numbers blocked, but may have turn it off to see if my phone is available again.

  • aqp, you are using Selective Call Acceptance, that means you will only accept calls form the two numbers you have "blocked", all others will be blocked. Follow the instructions to turn if off. You want selective call rejection, code *60.

How did you try to block them? Online? Star code? If so, which?

I blocked them using the telephone. Following the instructions from the recording. When I call the number for set up, it tells me that I have two numbers blocked.

    Hi aqp,

Are you still able to dial out and place calls?

i followed the instructions below. It was a few months ago, so I can't tell you from memory. Should I turn off the service and test the line?

    Use Selective Call Acceptance

The Cox Digital Telephone feature, Selective Call Acceptance, let's you decide which calls you will accept. To use this service, follow these steps:

    1. Lift the handset and listen for the dial tone.
    2. Press *64. On a rotary phone, dial 1164.
    3. Listen for an announcement telling you whether the feature is currently on or off. The recorded voice will then tell you how many, if any, numbers are currently stored in your acceptance list.
    4. Follow the voice instructions.
    5. Press 3 to turn the feature on or off, in the event you want to accept all calls again, not just those in the selected list.

To add the last caller to your acceptance list:

Press #01#. On a rotary phone, dial 1201.

To hear the phone numbers on your list:

    1. Press 1.
    2. After the list is read, voice instructions will follow.

To add a number to your list:

    1. Press #. On a rotary phone, dial 12.
    2. Follow the voice instructions.

Never mind ... Just needed to enter *60 again, and it turned "call screen service" back on. #01# will block the last number that called you.

Thank you for this service. ever since moving into our new home, we have been getting up to a dozen phone solicitations each day. This gives us an option to "strike back".

For 30 numbers, that's it. At a dozen a day, you will quickly run out of capabilities.
