Bad signal in the last few weeks

Anyone one else having issues with a bad signals. The last few weeks we have been getting bad signal on at certain time of the day and on only certain channels. I think it has to do with Cox switching over to all digital. I would call it in but every time I have done that in the past they want to check the home first and charge you when they find any issues. This is clearly a Cox issue especially when it only happens to some channel. Just wanted to know if other customer are having the same issues. We live in North Phoenix.

  • klscheer,

I'd like to help but will need additional information. What happens when you see bad signal? Is there an error message? What channels are affected and on how many TV's?

I'm in N. Central PHX.  I've had Contour for 8 days and it is a total disaster.  Poor signals, box freezes trying to watch On Demand programming.  Channels change on their own without touching remotes.  Remotes refuse to work.  Channels refuse to change.

I'm ready to go to Direct TV at this point.

I took a look at the Contour boxes and I can see that there's an issue. I can see that there's a work order set up, that's going to be the quickest way to get this resolved.
    Sorry for the inconvenience.

It seems to be channels like ESPN, and Channel 23 the 2 I notice the most.  It was good for the last couple days but today we had issue again with ESPN this morning.  It is all TVs.  I have one 4k and the rest are just normal HD or older.  the last few days it was great and the 4k tv looked really good.  I thought maybe we were pass this but today this morning issues again.  It is just very frustrating to have these issue when before I had no issue with Cox for years.

When we have bad signal it show picture on picture or the little white boxes in a line in different areas.  it like watching a slow motion tv show then it goes normal for a few seconds.  Once in a while I have seen where the TV will show an error saying it can't get signal for that channels nd just go black for a few seconds.  This is only seems to be the popular channels and not all the channels.

Yep,  I have had tiling issues for 2 years now.  Had techs over 3 time, even had a supervisor come over.  I've replaced my hd dvr 4 times, replaced all the cable wires from the telephone poll to the box. Still freezes up.  I get a 3.1.1.1 message,  I can reset the box 10 time with no help.  I know it has to do the the box, because I can log on the computer and use watchtv.cox.com and get NO tiling on any channels...  best of luck to you,  I'm dropping cox TV when my contract ends..

Can you explain why you think it would be a connection issue?  Usually a connection issue is all channels or none.  I find it hard to believe 1 HD channel comes in perfectly clear and then I switch to another one and it is pixilating and then go back to the other channel still fine.  It seems to be consistently the same channels.  Do certain channels need a better connect than others because they are sending more data?

Different channels are delivered on a variety of different frequencies so it's very common for there to be a signal issue affecting some but not all channels. You can check things like splitters, loose fittings, etc. Should that fail arranging for a tech to come out may be a good idea.
