Apple TV Trouble

We have Cox Contour. The internet and television is working without a hitch. When entering the username and password for my account in Apple TV, it responds that I do not have a subscription to, for instance, ESPN. I definitely get the channel but i cannot get apple TV to recognize any channel such as ABC, CBS, and ESPN. What can I do about this?

    What error codes are you getting white trying to log into those apps?
