Apple TV Contour App

I just got an amazing deal in my email that I'm willing to dump HBO Now for to get it with TV services.  I see that there's a Contour app for iPad/iPhone that doesn't seem to support airplay to an Apple TV, so will you be adding the Contour app to the Apple TV app store any time soon?  This is kind of a make/break thing for us as we want live TV, but think the box rental fee is absurd.

I don't think Cox will be putting too much effort into making a app that could replace cable boxes.

They already have it for other iOS devices, so that's a moot point, imo. Also, they offer cablecards, which also does away with cable boxes. TWC offers this app on Roku, with plans for Apple TV soon, so this isn't a stretch.

Not quite. Customers rent cable boxes for TVs. They don't rent cable boxes for smart phones. You have to rent cable cards, you can't buy them. The only reason they offer them is because the FCC forces all TV providers to do so. They don't force cable providers to offer TV compatible apps. I think Cox will "eventually" offer a TV app when they see it will make them more money in new customers then it will cost them in current customers no longer renting hardware. I cut the cord months ago, so I would like to see Cox offer what you want, I just wouldn't hold my breath.

True. However notice how long that took. Also notice the Roku app an Apple TV app only work on Rokus' and Apple TV's. They don't work with any app you can load directly into the TV. TWC made the Apple TV app when Apple agreed to work with them to get through the SDK troubles with the agreement TWC would only launch the Live stream app on Apple TV first. It's all a game of who can grab the most money. Comcast is following behind, and Cox will probably follow Comcast by about a year.
