2 modems

I already have a modem, wireless, router in my office (at home). I also have 1 big contour box and 3 small ones. One of the small ones is located in our family room. I was wondering can I attach another modem to the cable line via splitter in the family room, then attach the cable box. The connections would be splitter one side going to cable box then HDMI to TV, the other side going to modem then Ethernet to my HP lap top. We watch MLB.tv (Cubs) and the screen jumps and freezes a lot. I have already tried a wireless extender but that didn't work.

Thanks...

Steve

  • Cloud Windows 10,

Adding an additional modem would require activating an additional instance of internet service. Have you tested connecting your laptop to your current modem via ethernet to see if there's a difference when viewing MLB.tv via the wired connection?
