TV Economy

I'm trying to find out more information about the TV Economy package, like Channel lineup & cost, but, I can't seem to find it on the Cox.com site. This page https://www.cox.com/residential/tv/channel-lineup.html doesn't list Economy, it has "Starter" and "Flex Starter".

Can anyone point me to a current 2017 channel lineup for Hampton Roads, VA, as well as pricing? I don't want a contract, just base pricing.

Thanks

Thanks, the channel lineup is great - the pricing that I get in Hampton Roads, VA has prices for starter but not Economy.

I'm pretty sure it's $35/month.

The TV economy package is no longer available to new customers and has been grandfathered in for current customers.

You mean that it's no longer available unless you currently have it?

Hi Crpeck,

That is correct. We introduced new packages in its place. Have you checked out Contour Flex?

Flex looks interesting, not sure how I can watch those channels on my TV set?

Hi crpeck,

With Contour Flex, you can watch up to 5 simultaneous streams of live TV in HD on your laptop, smartphone or tablet.

Hi ,

I'm looking for options that will work with my Tivo & Cablecard.

crpeck,

Contour Flex also has a subscription option which includes an Advanced TV receiver or comparable equipment. Your TiVo along with a Cox CableCard and Tuning Adapter would work.

I can confirm that this is absolutely NOT TRUE in the FL market.  I just filed an FCC complaint regarding this exact issue.

Cox is not supporting cablecards for their Contour Flex TV starter package. I can verify this as I have been trying to get this to work for over a month. The Starter channels will not tune (Error V58: Channel Not Authorized) and the tuning adapter light will not go solid (need it for the included HBO channels). I can also verify that a Cox supplied set top box is able to tune all of the Contour Flex TV channels and all HBO channels (I tried this using their DVR box). To make sure it wasn't a Tivo failure, I had them temporarily give me a "normal" cable package (i.e. non-Flex) and the Starter channels and HBO channels came in and the tuning adapter locked instantly.

Below is a copy of my complaint to the FCC.

I am currently subscribed to the Cox Contour Flex Starter + Economy package. Cox has informed me that they do not and will not support the use of Cablecards with this package (in my case one Cablecard in a Tivo Bolt). However, they will allow me to use their cable box to receive all channels in the package. I tested this using their cable box and was able to tune all Flex TV Starter and Economy channels using the Cox supplied box. The policy allowing the use of their set top box is also stated here:
About Contour Flex

From that link:
Requirements and Restrictions
To access or use Contour Flex you must have the App Only service or a Contour non-DVR receiver.

It is my understanding that if Cox is going to provide a TV package that can be tuned using their set top box, they must also support the use of Cablecards. I believe they are trying to get around these rules by calling this a streaming only package, but you can clearly use this package with a Cox supplied set top box.

tlfromai,

In the Orange Country CA market, my cable card in a Tivo Bolt works great with TV Economy.

Not surprising.  Flex TV Economy works fine on my Bolt as well.  It's the Flex TV Starter channels and HBO channels that don't work on my Contour FLEX TV Starter + Economy package.  There's also a difference in how TV Economy, TV Starter, Flex TV Economy, and Flex TV Starter are programmed for cablecards.

What is the difference between TV Economy and Flex TV Economy?

My starter channels are also fine.

@flfromai

The issue isn't so much about the cable cards as it is that the Tivo does not have our Contour software on it. As the product branding implies, this is marketed towards customers that want the Contour experience. If you prefer to use the Tivo interface we have other service offerings for that platform that could provide the channels you're looking for.
