Moved modem to another room.
I moved my modem from one room to another. The internet in the old room was the only one in the home hooked up. I disconnected the line to the old room's outlet and attached the line to the new room into the 3 way splitter installed originally by the tech. The rooms are right next to each other.
Now my modem's send light is blinking when I plugged it into the new room and no internet. The modem's admin page is saying that it is in the process of upstream ranging. The only thing connected to the drop is the one internet outlet. I bypassed the splitter and tried just connecting the drop and outlet line with a barrel but no luck. any advice because I rather not pay a $60 tech fee to move my router 15 ft.

What are the modem's signal levels from the admin page? What model modem do you have?
To clarify, the coaxial comes from the street, into 3 way splitter? Can you see what model splitter or take a picture?

It sounds like the outlet in the new room isn't getting our network signal. The outlet may not have been activated during your install. If this is the case, a service call is necessary.

The modem is an older Motorola surfboard 5101U, a newer one has been ordered. I understand the current one isn't approved but it was working fine in the old room and still works whenever I hook it back into that one.
Current modem signals http://i.imgur.com/dDBoLJy.png, the upstream levels are different every time I check, usually between 22-59
The splitter the tech had installed http://i.imgur.com/WnyOY7z.jpg
The room that works was connected to the 7db outlet without the attachment on it. I've tried connecting the new room through both the splitter and just directly to the outside line with a barrel.

I don't think the problem is with the modem; I think it is the outlet in the "new" room. The modem simply isn't getting the network signal.

What are those two filters on the splitter? Almost looks like two terminators.
How many outlets in your house do you need? I would suggest putting the modem directly only line coming from the street to see what your signal levels are then, then you will know what you have to play with.
