Changes needed for IPv6?
I read elsewhere that Cox is due to implement IPv6 in the Hampton Roads VA area on 4/26/16. What changes to setup or equipment are needed to accommodate IPv6? My current setup includes a Motorola/Arris surfboard SB6141 modem and Apple Airport Extreme router (latest version 6th edition). If needed I can switch the router to aSynology RT1900ac and use the Airport Extreme as a 2nd wireless access point for a more remote room that needs improved wi-fi signal. Does Cox automatically update the modem for IPv6, or does the homeowner need to do this? My router is currently configured for IPv6 "link local only", as I was informed that the Apple AE router has some type of conflict with certain IPv6 implementations. Do I need to re-enable IPv6 on the Apple router, or change the router to a new SynologyRT1900ac that allows for a great deal of custom configuration? Does anyone know of a link for information on setup for IPv6? Thank you.2.9KViews0likes2Comments
