Data Usage Discrepancy
With the current policy of data caps I decided to track my usage at the router level. I just checked my cox account and from start of my billing cycle to yesterday (6-26-17 thru 7-11-17) states I have used 205 GB. When I check my router Netgear r7000 that I started tracking a day before my billing cycle to today (6-25-17 thru 7-12-17) states I used only 187GB. That is a discrepancy of 18GB! I would not care normally but since it is now policy to charge if and when we go over 1TB, this phantom data can be a means to charge overages. I highly disagree with any data caps in principle and function but if you choose to institute a cap then I expect it to be accurate. I want to know what Cox's stance on the accuracy on the data meter and discrepancies when I track my own. I would attach screen captures but your forum is too lackluster to properly insert. This is just a personal comment, data caps and penalties was a terrible idea and is the first time I am truly unhappy with my service and will be reviewing other service options.20KViews0likes44CommentsUpload Speeds drop in the Evening.
Been having some issues as of late. in the evening the upload speeds drop considerably. to the point where my sons can not game online on their ps4. bought a new modem and new router thinking it would solve the issue. then we upgraded to the ultimate package at 300/30. sometime around 7pm every night the upload speeds drop and come back around 10pm or so. all other times speeds seem to be fine. what could it be? have had a tech out and he changed all ends on the cables and signal tests were good at that point. issue still hasn't been resolved. requency start Value This field below allows you to modify the frequency the cable modem start with its scan during initialization and registration. So as I mentioned in the title I am not getting the "108 Mbps and11 Mbps" that the cox speed test is showing. I have aMotorolasurfboard sbg6782-ac so I don't believe that the modem/router is the problem. You may wonder how I know I'm not getting the speed that I am PAYING for and that is because of this site testmy.net. It has manyexplanationsof whycertaininternet tests aren'tcompletelytrue. Secondly I have been trying to stream on Twitch.tv and the quality is based off of upload and computer hardware. When doing this you need to set a max bit rate setting which is based off of your upload, and if I were to go by what cox is saying, 10Mbps, I should be able to put that setting on the max. But guess what, I can't. It can only work when the setting is at 1000kb/s which means I am only getting about 1Mbps - 1.5Mbps. Also if you use the speed test that I posted above you will see that(might not be for all) your download is about half of what the cox speed test says. While yes there is somevariablesthat will make it so that you don't get 100% of what you pay, 50% seems a littleridiculous. So I am posting to see if others might have this problem and have found a solution or if cox will hopefully give me what I am paying for. Oh and I have hard wired to my router/modem.14KViews0likes15CommentsBursts of Packet Loss at night.
So lately, since school has ended, I have been staying up late and starting yesterday night, I seem to be incuring bursts of packet loss at night. It starts around 8ish 9ish at night and I really don't know when it stops. I woke up at 11:00 today and the issue was resolved. But alas tonight it was back at it. pingtest.net doesn't show any packet loss, but there is a test that is located here:http://netalyzr.icsi.berkeley.edu/ and here are the results: http://n1.netalyzr.icsi.berkeley.edu/summary/id=369839a0-1631-fa163b10-fab2-48d9-9aed#latency Whats this affecting? My game, I play a MOBA named League of Legends, and randomly in fights I my champion would continue to do what I have told it to do before the lag spike, and I can see everyone moving live, the only thing I can't do is input commands. Its like a burst of upload packet loss. It's really annoying and the only response I got from calling cox was "Hey man, if it isn't fixed by the morning, I guess it's time to find a new game". Here is the network logs parsed into a graph from the game.http://logsoflag.com/#YEYavpgkVEq My friends have also noted that my voice cuts out in skype when the packet loss occurs, but there voices are still clear. What have I tried? Disabled the wifi on the modem in case it was someone watching netflix or something. Restarted modem/router/wifi box all-in-one MULTIPLE times. Checked the wire all the way to the wall. Tried multiple computers. Others with cox in the area not experiencing (within 10 miles of me). This issue appears to only occur at night, I surely hope this problem can be resolved and I won't be ignored :( Signal Test: Pinging 8.8.8.8 for 4 minutes Now Pingtest is showing packet loss: And now its not.. I don't understand whats going on : Even when I am getting an A from Pingtest, I am still getting dropped packets in-game. And here it is at 2:00AM with minimum packet loss. Its so random... Ugh :(http://logsoflag.com/#fV2fqFwFGeA 4:00AM here are game logs:http://logsoflag.com/#Jm0ow9OQB7j I can't reliably play my game anymore, idk if I am going to have packet loss or not.14KViews0likes24CommentsNew Construction Install Request
How can I get someone out to my address to verify that the equipment in my yard is in fact a Cox pedestal so we can get service at our new home? I've been trying for weeks to get someone out here but everyone that I have spoken with acts dumbfounded. I was in the industry for 12 years in Kansas City and when someone had the same situation that I currently have, I would have a technician out at that address to look at it and 9 times out of 10 we had them built in the billing system and services installed in less than 24 hours. Since I've started this process, I have been forced to go with Dish (shame on you Cox) and we are using our phones as hotspots for connectivity.Solved11KViews0likes1CommentMotorola Arris SBG6782 DOCSIS 3.0 Router Issues and sporadic disconnects of WIFI devices
I am starting this post in hopes that other Cox Customers will see it and also respond with their personal troubles with the SBG6782 DOCSIS router. I have seen numerous posts regarding connectivity problems with Cox personnel providing the same reply that the issue has to be the modem. I personally offered Cox to come to my home and set up a device to monitor the signal in two places 1) Directly before the NIU and 2) Directly before the Cable Modem in order to see where the troubles lie so we can proactively fix the problem I am having at my home. That offer was never taken up and all I was told is that they can send a technician to my home and "test" the signal. Since 2007, I have had Cox in my home several times and each time something has been swapped out. I now have Cox supplied coax from the wall jacks to every device in my home. I have a new Cox supplied splitter in my attic. All cables going into my splitter now have new heads. I even have a new, Cox provided, Amplifier in my home. Everything in the house has been replaced by Cox yet the problems are still here. I even have issues with my cable boxes freezing up and not responding and yes...those have been replaced as well. About a year or so ago, the internet got SO bad that I tossed my old Surfboard router and purchased a new Motorola SBG6782 router from Best Buy. When I hooked it up, it was AWESOME. Fastest speeds I have ever witnessed. Unfortunately, that lasted for about 3 days and then the trouble began. Webpages hanging, or not even loading. Wi-Fi devices crippled by painfully slow internet or no internet at all. Even the laptop I use that plugs DIRECTLY INTO THE MODEM ITSELF experiences the same exact symptoms. The biggest problem I am having is that our internet will literally STOP working for a few minutes, several times a day generally requiring a reboot of the router to fix. I have on several occasions, had to reboot my router several times a day or, just wait patiently for the signal to come back and continue my internet experience. I don't even try and work from home as connecting to work is useless as we use Citrix and my connection gets dropped at least 3 times while I try and work. I have supplied multiple logs from my router and am given a very informative answer however, that answer doesn't fix the problem that is obviously internal to Cox. ChrisL on the Cox Forum has been a huge help and I thank you for every answer you have provided and every attempt you have made to help but I am asking for this to be escalated to a chronic team as there are way too many people on these forums having the same exact issues that I am having so we all cant just have "faulty" modems. Someone from Cox, please look at this post and understand my pain of paying for a service I cannot use like I want to. I have children who cannot do homework because the internet doesn't work so we have to use our limited 4G LTE cell phones to look up things for homework and research. Hopefully something will come out of this post but I doubt it. The best I will get is having a tech come out which will waste his time and mine because since I rebooted my router about an hour ago, Internet has been flawless.10KViews0likes14CommentsIntermittent Email send/receive failures with POP3 - Again, for weeks
I posted this a couple weeks ago, have received no responses, and discovered it was deleted. So I'm posting it again. Don't delete it again...please solve it. For the past few weeks now, I've been experiencing the infamous & intermittent email send/receive failures, like many other customers in these forums have reported. My system specs: Windows 10 Pro x64 MS Windows Defender active, no other security packages MS Outlook Cox Internet Preferred package with the Cox provided DOCSYS 3.0 NetGear N450 modem/router My issues: For several weeks, my various Cox email accounts have intermittent problems sending or receiving emails through Outlook 2007. When receiving emails, I'll get the Outlook pop-up error window stating: ------------------------------------------------------------------- "Task 'myemailaddress' - Receiving' reported error (0x800CCC92 or some other error code) : 'The operation timed out waiting for a response from the receiving (POP) server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP)." ------------------------------------------------------------------- This issue happens consistently, several times a day with all my Cox email accounts...then emails will suddenly work again...then the issue reappears, rinse & repeat...it's an ongoing cycle of working/not working throughout the day for the past few weeks now. I don't bother calling Support about this because they usually blame Outlook and do nothing. It's not an Outlook problem. Everything works great, when it works...then this sudden issue pops once or twice a year, as so many other customers have been reporting. And as mentioned by other customers, Cox somewhat acknowledges that they know about this problem with email and it's been kicked upstairs for a harder look. In the past, I've reset my Outlook settings for the Cox emails, tried different settings and ports according to the Cox email support docs, and even deleted my Cox email account profiles within Outlook and recreated them (in case they were corrupted). Nothing has worked. This happens regularly, so please Cox...don't ask the usual questions about using Webmail, trying another computer, etc. We know, and you know, this has been a persistent, recurring issue with Cox email accounts for many years and these suggestions don't work or fix anything. Usually, Cox Support hems & haws and says they're working on it...or they wrongly blame Outlook...and nothing gets resolved. After repeated complaints to report the issue, they'll usually reset or do something to solve the issue. So I'm adding my issue & complaint here to be resolved also. Please fix this email issues ASAP. Thank you.8.8KViews0likes17CommentsUbee Modem Wireless Disconnects
Seriously ready to rip my hair out here. We're on out 2nd modem. Tech replaced first modem for this same exact problem but told me that if it happened again to play the lottery cause I had good odds. We have the Ubee DVW326. The wireless light goes off/black and the wifi signal stops broadcasting. I also can't login to the modem with the ip while hardwired cause it won't load the login. Those hard-wired in do not get disconnected. Unplugging or resetting it only fixes the issue temporarily. Sometimes it could be fine for a few days, but in the past 24 hours (aside from when we are sleeping) we've had to reset the modem at least 1 to 3 times per hour. Please help! Thanks in advance!8.6KViews0likes6CommentsNow....Bad wi fi connection
Hi, within the last 3 months or so, My laptop and iphone have been not receiving a good solid signal. I lose internet on both and it's increasingly frustrating as the problem is getting worse. Our router has always been sufficient. What's going on and why am I having these problems now? What is different or changed on your end? Thanks.Solved7KViews0likes13Comments
