DPQ-3212 modem w/battery backup never goes online after power failure
In October Cox installed a DPQ-3212 (I assume this is a CIsco modem although the brand name on the modem itself is "Technicolor") phone modem in my home as part of their infrastructure upgrade. I purchased a backup battery for the modem. Last night we had a power failure and a phone which should have worked (non-cordless, does not require power) had no dial tone. Power was off for about 30 minutes. This morning I tested the modem by unplugging it. What I'm seeing is the all of the panel lights lighting in succession, and then everything but the POWER light turns orange and and it repeats this sequence. I let the modem do this 4 or 5 times and then just plugged it in. If there's a power failure, why doesn't the battery just immediately take over (like a UPS on a PC)? Is the behavior I'm seeing by unplugging the modem indicative of a defective modem or defective battery? Under normal use, the BATTERY light is solid green. Thanks for any insight into this. Not having phone service during a power outage is unsettling especially when you've paid for a backup battery. Rob8.1KViews0likes9CommentsCox backup file list
How do you remove/delete files from the backup file list? So I goofed and added files I really don't want to back up but there is no way to edit the list and delete files from it. Why? There's a button to ADD more to it. Why can't I remove files I really don't want to bother backing up?1.9KViews0likes2CommentsBackup power for phone service
I am thinking about using the Cox digital telephone service. However, the backup battery is good for only 8 hours of standby time. With multi-day power outages not uncommon in my neighborhood, this just isn't good enough. Are there any other viable solutions? I would be looking for at least 2 days of standby time.4.9KViews0likes4CommentsHow to find uploaded files
All, this is, admittedly, an admission of stupidity/ignorance. Still: I've been uploading files via the Cloud Drive "app" on my desktop computer in order to deposit many, many music files. At the moment, I have 7,000 files to go up that are estimated to take 55 days to file. I'm in no rush. Even if it's taken more than two weeks to upload 20 gigs of music, which is what the app claims it has uploaded. My question is: After signing in to drive.cox.com, I see the Music folder. And there's nothing in it -- when I click Online FIles off the left menu bar File Manager. Nor in the Backups. Am I just wasting electricity? Or even dumber than I think I am? I tried searching the forum and the help on the file manager page and couldn't find an answer to this. I was wondering if the Cox Secure Online Backup software used encryption when it uploaded data. I was also curious about whether the data is stored encrypted on COX's servers. Thanks in advance.2.9KViews0likes3CommentsCox adding the Cloud - how long will it last?
I received an email saying that Cox has added access to 'the cloud' for file storage. I've had my files clobbered by Cox twice already, once when it changed from @home.com to @cox.net, and another a few years ago when Cox said it was eliminating the file storage area because not many people were using it. How long will Cox continue 'the cloud' service?1.9KViews0likes1CommentData Usage and Internet Back ups
Hello, Internet Service: Premier Question: I would like to back up my data on the internet just in case of hard drive failures and the such, however, the data usage is limited to 300GB a month. Is that strictly download, upload, or combined? I would like to upload ~500GBs. Thanks everyone!2.1KViews0likes1CommentBackup Software for OS X
I am running the backup software for OS X on a 10.9 (Mavericks) machine. When I try to log into my user account, it states that my username or password is wrong. I have tried to reset my password to an easier to type in password to ensure that it is not a user error but I cannot get it to work. My question is, is this an error because the software doesn't work on 10.9 or some other type of error that is there for all versions of OS X?2.2KViews0likes2Comments
