Only one of our phones shows the time, and I just checked - it is 8-10 minutes slow (said 11:02pm and it was 11:12pm). Our caller ID box (yes, we have a separate caller ID box from our phones) shows a call from my cell to our home # at 5:57pm tonight, while the Cox phone tools (and my cell phone from which I called) lists the call at 6:07pm, which matches my watch time and NIST time. I just tried again, after resetting the time on my home phone and answering machine to match my watch. Called from my cell. Actual time 11:16pm, caller ID time showed 11:14pm. Both my home phone and answering machine reset their times to 11:14. Although not quite correct, this is much closer to actual time and if this remains at 2 minutes off, close enough. Though it still boggles me that the clock used to generate the caller ID timestamp can be off, and off by an inconsistent amount. FYI, all times are EDT. I'll try again tomorrow and see what happens. Re: Caller ID time off by 8 minutes. Thank you to all the forum moderators (Lisa, Becky and Kevin) for responding to the thread hijackers and ignoring my original post.. Caller ID time off by 8 minutes. Times shown on my home phones and answering machine show the time that is about 8 minutes earlier than the time shown by NIST or WWV (the US time standards). For example, I call home at 6:20pm and the caller ID shows 6:12pm. Granted, not a huge problem, but irritating and shows as possible time server issue on Cox's equipment.
