Because Becky mentions that with a $5 fee it might not be a biz account leads me to believe that you can get a static when in fact you cant. Re: 5 Disconnects in less than 4 hours??? It is your levels, since this is a D3 modem the sweet spot is -5 to +5, you are at -12. A tech needs to get out there to fix it. Re: 5 Disconnects in less than 4 hours??? in any web browser with Java installed go to 192.168.100.1 Need the stuff in the circle, if you are going to do a screen shot, please delete your MAC. Should look like this: Re: Unable to connect to Cox High Speed Internet Network Does not matter if you have a static IP or not, you will ALWAYS get an IP from Cox when you set your device to use DHCP. Sounds like you router/computer is having an issue. Since you are a new install you should be able to get a service call for free. The installer should have given you their number, try calling them and explaining the issue to them. Re: Online Backup Metering You should be happy that Cox supports Network Neutrality, not every ISP does. Re: 5 Disconnects in less than 4 hours??? What equipment are you running? If it is in fact a D1.2 modem you SHOULD really upgrade as that is VERY old and it could be hardware related, though Cox still supports pre D2 modems not all areas do it very well. You dont need D3 and will be fine with a D2 modem, the D2 standard is not going away for a while. Try a new modem (you can get used ones cheap off of ebay, craigslist etc just make sure they are not on an account) or get a new one from Cox. If it turns out that it is not the modem and you got it from Cox, they will then be able to look elsewhere and refund your money. If its not a pre D2 modem then it could be a Cox issue. What are your levels? Re: internet connection as slow as dial-up during the day What equipment do you have and how old is it? Re: Static IP Addresses... My understanding is that only Business accounts can get a static IP, if residential accounts can when did this start? Re: Internet Price INCREASE! Have you tried to call the retentions dept? Thats what I did about a year ago, I have some nice discounts now as I have been a long time customer. Just like the situation i describe below, every company has a retentions dept for current customers to get discounts but most dont know about them. Sometimes the company will require you to do something relatively simple, for example with Cox (this is a current promo in AZ, might be in your area as well) I got $10 off/month for 1 year and I just had to specify Cox as my long distance provider (use a cell phone for this so doesnt matter who does my long distance) and its renewable. They cant say you cant use satellite, just say where the dish can and cant be. Unless its in the agreement that you signed, Cox, CenturyLink and othe providers have agreements with many complexes (apartment, condo etc) that say they will not allow the other provider to sell to the residences. As a resident you are made aware of this vendor lock in in your agreement, and agree to it by signing, though given that most dont read stuff before signing, most dont realize this until they want service from the other provider, though satellite is often not prohibited as you can just put the dish in a bucket on your porch/balcony.
