The caller ID is MY land-line number so I can't block it (...or CAN I?) Cable box communication error We've been having an issue with our Contour 2 Cable-DVR box lately. When attempting to change a channel the box becomes unresponsive, and then a window screen pops up saying something like " we seem to be having trouble communicating with your cable box. Please make sure all cables are correctly connected. Unplug the power cable to the box and them reinsert it to reboot. This may be temporary, try back in five minutes" . "If this continues call nnn-nnn-nnn Cox" (I don't have the number) This happened to me on 10/17 at about 7 pm. When my wife came home, she indicated that it had happened to her several times the night before. I do not have the phone number provided in the pop up window, but next time it happens I'll take a snap shot of the screen. I'm wondering if this is some kind of a hack. We never did call the number on the screen, but what if we did? Is it really a Cox "support" phone number? No Signal from Minibox to HDTV "Not Supported Mode" My new minibox was working correctly until yesterday when I went into "menu" for the box and saw 480i with a right arrow next to it and clicked it hoping to see 1080i. After doing so, the screen is blue with the HDMI logo on the left corner and an information box in the middle of the scree that reads, "Not Supported Mode". I would be able to go in and undo the change the setting, but I do not have access to the cable minibox menu to do so. I've called Cox to get over the phone guidance, but nothing worked. The service tech will be here tomorrow, but I still think this whole issue could have been avoided if I could access the menu settings and simply change the bogus setting. It's probably too soon for anyone to have experienced such problems.
