Thanks Stephanie A. That is the first answer that seems to gel with what we are seeing. I agree that Recently Deleted is not the place to keep programs you want to save long-term. The first answer we got was "I can confirm that deleted recordings will stay in the recently deleted folder until permanently deleted by the user or until the system auto deletes it when the hard drive fills up and space is needed." And the second answer was that the DVR or disk was possibly the problem and need replacement. And this is yet another different answer (albeit the most reasonable). I wish the answers provided here were accurate, consistent and logical. For the future, a quick response isn't as important as an accurate response. There's nothing wrong with saying "I'll investigate and update the forum after finding the answer." Thank you again for the explanation. Stephanie, That's the first reasonable explanation I have heard about this phenomenon, even though I'm baffled by the design. I do have a lot of regularly scheduled recordings, as I suspect most people do. If there is an easy way to obtain the number of shows I have scheduled, I will get it for you. It sounds like you're saying that Recently Deleted programs are deleted in anticipation of future recordings needing the space. Is that what you are saying? That doesn't seem like a great design at all. DVRs I have owned in the past purge programs only when space is needed. If my Contour 2 was hovering around 90%-95% full, I expect programs to get deleted to recover space for new recordings. But I don't expect anything to get deleted at 55% full. This problem is not fixed. Yesterday I had 28 Recently Deleted programs. Today I have only 12 Recently Deleted programs. My disk is only 55% full. Absolutely the Notifications are On. In fact, I have gone so far as to disable and reenable it multiple times to try and jumpstart it. This has been checked many times over the past weeks and the tech verified this as well last Wednesday when he was here. Notifications are On. The TV Caller ID saga continues, and not in a positive way. To recap: Round 1 - TV Caller ID not working. I call tech support and I was told that TV Caller ID was not working because I have low signal in my home. The tech came out on 10/14, replaced a coax connector, and said my signal levels are now fine. But still no Caller ID on my TV! He said the feature was intentionally disabled on all Contour 2 boxes due to software glitch and will be fixed eventually. Sounded like a reasonable, rational answer. Round 2 - My client boxes freeze up; unuseable. Only my main DVR box is working. I'm told by tech support that my signal level is low (again). A different tech comes out on 10/25. Installs a signal booster. Signal levels are now good. But still no TV Caller ID! He calls his support person and they tell him that TV Caller ID is no longer a standard feature. It is optional and has to be enabled?!?!? I need to call Cox and request that feature?!? I haven't felt like spending any more time on this, so I haven't yet called. Can a Cox member on this forum please confirm or refute that TV Caller ID is now optional and must be ordered ? Oh and by the way, the tech also said that TV Caller ID works fine at his house, and he lives in the next town over. That tells me that TV Caller ID is NOT disabled in the software. The inconsistencies are mind-numbing. I don't understand why there is so much conflicting information about this. A quick update. The tech came out last Wednesday 10/25 and added a signal booster to the TV portion of my cabling. At this point (Sunday morning 10/29) I now have 28 Recently Deleted programs. That's more than I have ever seen. Historically the deleted programs have only stuck around 2-3 days max. But before drawing any absolute conclusions I need to let more time go by. If I get to at least a week and the Recently Deleted number is still incrementing, then I'd say we're onto something. For now, I just wanted to update the forum with the latest status.1View0likes0Comments
