ContributionsMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRecommendations for Recording the 2012 NBC Summer Olympics We have received feedback that some customers may be experiencing an issue recording content for the NBC 2012 Summer Olympics. The issue is due to limited DVR storage capacity and attempting to record the NBC Summer Olympics as a series. Currently, the 2012 NBC Summer Olympics displays in the program guide as an extended block of time each day. For example, the program guide may have the 2012 Summer Olympics listed from 6 am to 10 pm (totaling 16 hours for that day). Based on your DVR settings and storage capacity, if you attempt to record the NBC 2012 Summer Olympics as a series and do not have enough space on your DVR, the recording could either fail, or record over stored content. To assist you with this issue, we recommend recording Olympic events as follows: Set up a manual recording for a specific event by date and time. Do not record the Olympics as a series. To view event schedules, go to NBCOlympics.com, and click on Results & Schedules. Refer to Set up Manual DVR Recording. Record programs in Standard Definition. Recording shows in HD and 3D will use more data storage than Standard Definition. Re: Mozilla Firefox wont open after upgrade. Error: The instruction at 0x77bc2245 referenced memory at 0x77f1748. The memory could not be read Hi Peacefulwaves, According to this post on a Prevx forum, it appears that there is acompatibilityissue with the version you are using and Security Suite. While I have never used this particular product, the forum thread seems to point to upgrading to avoid this problem as the only solution. As a general rule though, it has been my experience that anti-virus/anti-malware tools installed at the same time often cause multiple conflicts since they would likely access the same system resources. Hope this helps. Re: McAfee Security Suite Great solution peacfulwaves! We are looking at adding these steps to our help articles on Cox.com/support since the problem, as you describe it, would indeed cause browsing not to function correctly. For the others on the thread, can you attempt the above steps to see if that resolves your issue? Re: Cox security suite requires primary holder to logon. I am!! Hi, This requirement relates to the User ID you are logging in with, not you yourself. If you are receiving this message, the user ID is not designated as the Primary User ID in our system. What would be the primary User ID is the one you selected when you first created your account. If you cannot remember the User ID that was first created on the account (or the one you are using is that), let us know and we can provide you with some additional assistance. Here are some links to some support articles on why you are seeing this error message and how activate and install Cox Security Suite: Understanding Digital Identities and Account Types Activating Cox Security Suite Plus Powered by McAfee® DNSChanger Information Cox Communications is dedicated to protecting the Internet experience of our customers. We notify customers when their computer systems may be infected with malicious software (malware). DNSChanger, a form of malware, redirects your Internet traffic to alternative web sites allowing the malicious operator (and alleged criminal) to control the customer’s Internet experience. A common method is to redirect advertisement traffic to sites controlled by the malicious operator. This malware can also allow infected computers to be controlled remotely. Details about this malware, how it can attack customers, and how your system may have been infected, can be found on the following FBI and Department of Justice website. DNSChanger malware causes a computer to use “rogue,” or bad, DNS servers in one of two ways. First, if the malware successfully infects the customer’s computer(s), it changes the computer’s DNS server settings to replace the ISP’s good DNS servers with rogue DNS servers operated by the criminals. Second, if the malware infects a router or gateway device on the customer’s network, all computers located behind the router or gateway device within your network could be controlled by the malicious operator. Therefore, these changes may impact all computers on your network, even if those computers are not themselves infected with the malware. For instructions on how to remove this malware see, DNSChanger Malware Information. Re: The speed test isn't working on my MacBook Thanks for the info. I did a little digging and it seems that a few people across different ISPs had trouble with their Macs and a new Netgear router.Fortunatelythe problem seems like it is an easy fix as it is related to some network settings. On your Mac, go to the Apple menu and select System Preferences. When the window appears select Network. Click the Lock icon at the bottom and enter the password for your computer. On this window you will have the network connections listed and the active connection should have a green dot next to it. If you are using wireless select Airportor, if your Macbook is connected by a ethernet cable, select Built-in ethernet. From there, there will be section towards the bottomlabeledDNS Server. If there is anything typed there, remove it. Click the Apply button once that information has been removed. If you would like a visual reference to the above, use this article from our Knowledge Base:http://ww2.cox.com/residential/arizona/support/internet/article.cox?articleId={7ba29710-6418-11df-ccef-000000000000} If there was any thing in the DNS section that you had to remove, try the test again. You should be able to receive speeds at the same rate as your other PC on the network. If you do not, and you are connected via Wireless, you can also check the Router settings to see what rate the wifi is set too. While most routers manufactured in the last few years are compatible with the faster rate 802.11n and 802.11g protocols, they can also be set to the slow 802.11a and 800.11b protocols that have much slower data rates of 1 mb and 5mb respectively. Re: Backup software issues on Mac What kind of problems are experiencing? Do you receive any error messages? Re: The speed test isn't working on my MacBook The Cox Speed Test is compatible with Mac OS X (I've used it at home several times on my iMac), so there may be an issue with your version of Flash. Can you take a screenshot of what happens and post it to this thread (Instructions below)? To take a screenshot on Mac OS X: On your keyboard press the Command ( ), Shift, and 3. After a few seconds you will hear a "camera click" sound and the screenshot will be saved as file on the desktop. To see what version of Flash you are running, and to upgrade if you are using an older version, go to the web site below: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/find-version-flash-player.html Re: DVR will not record Hi Carol, Do you also receive an error message when you attempt to record a program? Are you able to access any previously recorded progrmas on your DVR? Re: EMAIL: RETR errors when downloading - servlet crash when using webmail Wonderful! Keep us posted on what happens. I am also looking into what else may be causing this. A quick Google search has revealed that this error is quite common across several providers using the POP3 protocol.
