It's really inconsistent, sometimes for weeks I have zero issues, but then a day like today I notice it happening again. I've gone through let's see, about 3 different modems in my home (Cisco DPQ3212 > Netgear CM700 > Arris Surfboard SB8200 (Current modem)), multiple routers, and the issue persists. I've had the line into my house replaced, I've had the cable that leads to my modem replaced, I've had splitters removed so that there's only one single splitter from my modem to the line into my home. Nothing has ever eliminated this problem, it is 100% on Cox's network. I've probably had like at least 8 techs come out within the past year or two alone, problem was never resolved. So you're definitely not alone with this issue, but sadly you won't get any help on this forum, but at least you will know you're not the only one. The thing is, I run speed tests almost every single day and it's mostly normal most days, until I start noticing the problem, but once I do it's crazy what goes on with my upload speeds, jumping all over the place, dropping to 0 (such that we can't even upload pictures, let alone videos), and just being wildly inconsistent, while the download speeds remain rather stable. Another thing I've noticed is a HUGE upspike in uncorrectables on my modem's webpage when it occurs, like on every single channel uncorrectables on every single modem I've used. It's absolutely insane and I have essentially given up on the problem because it's obviously some major infrastructure issue with Cox that they just don't care enough to do anything about. Problem can persist from a few days to even weeks which happened before. I guarantee there's many more customers effected by this, but they just don't know it because most people don't check their speeds regularly, let alone check their upload speeds. Whenever I start having the problem I come to this forum just to see if other people are impacted around the same times that I am, and what do you know I see a thread or two about people complaining about upload speeds. Just confirms what I already know, this is Cox's issue. Re: Large swings in upload speed Trust me, it's not just you that this happens to, I guarantee there's thousands upon thousands of Cox customers who are having this happen to them, most just don't realize it because not everyone is uploading things all the time or streaming, thus they won't notice the drops. If you're someone like me who does stream things from time to time, or uploads videos / images almost daily, you certainly take notice when this is happening almost every single day for the past week. There are some SERIOUS issues with Cox's own network that they need to get resolved, they will blame their customers, but it's their infrastructure that is causing these issues. I've seem so many people on different websites talk about this same issue, I've seen so many others complain about the same problem I've been having for YEARS now that I am 100% positive that it's Cox's fault, and they won't admit they have some serious issues with their network infrastructure. Eventually some Cox rep will come into this thread with the same copy pasted response they always post, because they're not interested in actually solving their own problems, rather blaming their customers for their own poor service. I've had the same exact issue at two separate addresses in Metairie Louisiana miles apart, for over three years now. Different equipment at both addresses, I've had THREE modems, about to be four as I'm getting a DOCSIS 3.1 modem in a few days, and I don't doubt the same issue will exist once I get it. I've had the cabling inside my house replaced almost completely. I've had the line that runs from the utility pole into my home replaced. I've had techs come out probably over 10 times at this point, more if you count the amount of times they came out at my previous address, all over this problem of upload / download speeds dropping to nothing. When you see a problem like this though, the primary source is Cox themselves. Your own equipment CAN cause these issues to occur, if you're modem has too high signals on the upstream channels for example, or you have too many splitters leading to your modem leading to signal loss, problems with Cox's CMTS (Cable Modem Termination System, This is most likely the problem and it's on Cox's end). I've called Cox so many times over this issue it's almost comical, I pretty much just stopped because it's clear they can never actually do anything to fix it by coming out to my house, dicking around for an hour and not being able to resolve anything because the problem isn't in my *** house, but back at their CMTS. Re: atrociously inconsistent upload speeds as well as connection to twitch. You're not alone here, it IS a Cox issue, they will never admit it here on these forums or when you call them, that's because they just don't care. Sometimes upload speeds work as I pay for them (I pay for 30mbps up, 300 down though I get 400 download most of the time). I typically don't even notice it until I'm uploading an image and it just sticks and refuses to upload. I've been through the same deal, probably had techs come out to my house 6+ times to deal with this and other various issues over the years, replaced the cables in my house, removed splitters and replaced the actual line coming into my house as well, but the upload speed issue still happens from time to time, right now I'm only getting 8mbps yet images still aren't uploading like they should for me. I replaced my modem three times, and have a netgear CM700 now which has worked fine since I got it. but the same issues persist. It's a Cox issue, something with their network infrastructure. In the past my upload speeds were literally dropping to zero, and this stayed for weeks at a time to the point where I literally couldn't do anything on the Internet that requires uploading anything to a server. Only recently has my upload speed dropped to ~8mpbs though, I run speed tests almost every single day, and it was working as normal last week around the 20th, then on the 24th it dropped down. Cox needs to get their *** together, but you know they won't. Don't trust any of the nonsense they tell you, it's almost guaranteed it's on their end, not yours. Re: Packet Loss, slow/stuttering streams, slow page loads Greater New Orleans Area You're not alone, I noticed the same issue happening in Metairie (for the past few days) and it's affecting everything. Pages not loading, stuttering in streams, streams (Youtube) not loading when they were working fine a few days ago. Using Cox Ultimate as well, I was planning on calling tomorrow because I thought it was just me but it's clearly a regional issue. Speedtest results for me are pretty normal, around 350mbps download which is what I normally receive, and upload speeds ~30-35mbps, also normal range. Internet is usable, but it's making playing games very frustrating. Watching videos is also a pain. The funny thing is I was having MASSIVE issues with Cox upload speeds a few months ago, and the problem was recurring at multiple homes, they replaced the cable coming into my house from the telephone pole and it seemed to fix the issue, as I haven't noticed it occurring again in over a month, but it's worked fine like this before and then dropped off. Replaced my modem multiple times too, got a new router and everything and haven't had the problem return. Now this download issue is occurring... and my upload speeds are completely fine. Unacceptable upload speeds, down to essentially zero. This is going to be a long post. For years now, yes YEARS, at multiple addresses with multiple modems we have been having upload speed issues with Cox. The problem essentially boils down to our upload speeds dropping to near zero, and the download speeds decreasing slightly as well, but not too large of a drop. The problem seems to pop up every month or two, stay with us for a few days and then things return to normal and everything works great for weeks / months until it pops up again. We have replaced modems, including our current modem multiple times. We have tried hooking up the modem hard-wired to a desktop and testing it there, time and time again proving it's not our router. We have called techs out countless times, techs that have been completely unable to fix the issue every single time. It eventually just starts working normally again and works fine for a while, until I have to upload an image (since we run a business at home and sell over the Internet, we NEED upload speeds to be consistent) and notice it's not working. This has happened probably 10+ times over the years to us, like I said above, at two different, but close addresses with different equipment, same problem then, same problem now. I am absolutely CERTAIN that this is a cox issue, perhaps with the infrastructure in our region (as times in the past when it started working again I've noticed COX trucks working on the lines nearby). I am just sick and tired of this. Words cannot describe the amount of frustration this has caused. I would gladly leave Cox behind forever due to your horrible service and techs but I don't have a choice considering the competition (if you can even call it that considering ISP monopolies these days) doesn't even offer half the speeds Cox does sadly. Otherwise I would jump ship immediately. Let me go back to the last major time this happened (though it happened a little over a WEEK ago too, but seemed to return to normal). This was back in March of 2017, previously it also occurred in December. Back in March we had I think 2-3 techs come out, first the typical tech that doesn't know their head from their **** who can't do anything. Then, we got "escalated" to their expert techs and a team of two guys showed up and stayed for almost 5 hours, working through our house completely. I labelled all the cables outside with tape so that the techs could see exactly where all the cables were going and how it got to the router. They checked everything, looked at all the cable infrastructure, removed some redundant splitters, and it did nothing, the problem was still there when they left later because they were dumbfounded. They switched out the modem when they were here, made no difference. They said they were going to get another tech who works on the lines to come out. Upload speeds returned to normal I think a day or two later and stayed like that until late april, which is when it happened again. That only lasted a day or two and then again returned to normal, I had a tech scheduled to come out, but cancelled it once it returned to normal because they wouldn't have been able to fix *** anyways. So now I'm here, I don't know where else to turn because your tech support is just NOT working. Attached are a ton of images, as well as a link to the excel file with all my speed test results from March until present, as well as an image of the status page of my modem, which looks COMPLETELY NORMAL from what I've looked up online, which tells me it's again, NOT THE MODEM, nor is it my router, which I already went over above because I have plugged in the modem directly to my PC multiple times before, besides, my PC is hardwired from my modem to my router to the PC anyways, not a wireless connection. Here is an imgur album: http://imgur.com/a/bCOst In it is an image of my modem status page. Upstream channels are within normal power levels. Downstream channels as well. This tells me that it's not my modem causing the problem, and even with that, like I said above, we have been through multiple modems of different brands with no change in result when the problems with upload speed occur. I'm lucky I was even able to upload these images, most of them despite being only a few kb in size took a minute or more to upload. As you can imagine, when uploading images for my business that are megabytes in size, this is an issue such that it's nearly impossible to upload anything, and that's just images, not even to mention videos which I also upload and share. Here is a link to the excel file of all my speedtest results: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ugqumxaz19z92k7/Speedtest%20Results%20Spreadsheet.xlsx?dl=0 I am at a loss of what to do here. It's late now, but I plan on calling tech support yet again tomorrow, and I fear it won't do anything yet again, and it will just return to normal a day or two, hopefully not weeks like it has in the past. There has to be some kind of infrastructure problem in my area, there is no other explanation, I've tried everything, we've had so many techs come out and never be able to fix it. Re: Very slow upload speeds... You're not alone here. For almost a week now our upload speeds out of the blue have been nearly 0. Can't even upload a 1mb picture it's so *** low. Had two techs come out, the second group was two of their "expert" techs who re-wired everything, changed out some splitters, changed out our modem, and we STILL have the issue. It HAS to be something with Cox, and they are blatantly lying to us about what's going on. Even the guys they sent out realized how bad this situation was, and said it was pretty unacceptable. They couldn't fix it, they pretty much confirmed it was something wrong with Cox's line. I've seen multiple Cox trucks working on that line for the last week, so obviously my neighbors must be having the same issues I'm guessing, and looking on the Internet on places like Down detector it's clear I'm not the only person having this sort of issue. I think most people just don't notice because not everyone is constantly uploading things, or streaming. It's not my router, as my computer is hard wired to my modem. It's not the modem because we had it switched out multiple times. It's not the wiring / infrastructure in our home, as the techs spend nearly 4 hours working on it and the issue still persisted. They even removed 2 splitters and made the connection to the modem much more direct, made no difference, signal loss isn't occurring. Yet the upload speeds here keep fluctuating wildly, look at this for example: It's not the first time it's happened to us either, it's happened multiple times within the last year, as well as 2016, the last time being in december. I'm just about fed up, I WISH I had an option to switch to a company that actually cares, but nope, Cox has a complete monopoly on high speed Internet in our area. The only competitor is AT&T and they don't offer the speeds I want, it's really a bad situation.
