I was informed I was in an outage for weeks. I was informed after the outage was resolved, a technician would be sent out. Right now, once again, I am looking a blinking light on my modem. My modem is always telling me of warnings and critical notices and it is always the same errors. Perhaps someone in support will see this and consider taking time to reach back out so I can some this fixed? The level of support I have received this far is appalling. Re: Cannot send email when travelling No, I never did get it resolved. I am looking for their service address so I can send a certified letter to their CEO to educate them on how stupid a move this has been. I don't care about webmail, or IMAP. They support POP, only they don't. Re: Getting this error: CXSNDR There was a problem with the sender's domain. Your email failed authentication checks against your sending domain's SPF, DomainKeys, or DKIM policy. The reason you are getting this is because several months ago Cox decided to implement an antispam service through Cloudmark that promptly broke everyone's ability to use Pop email when they weren't on the local network. I have the exact same problem. What they failed to consider is that people who have been using the service for years are getting screwed over. We are supposedly connecting directly to a cox mail server using SMTP authentication. The PTR record for the connecting IP should have no relevance and until the pull their heads out and pay attention, we will continue to be screwed over. I do not use web mail, I use an email client to connect to the server. Cox needs to have Cloudmark relax the restrictions when an authenticated user is trying to send mail. Re: Cannot send email when travelling I have been having a similar issue ever since they brought Cloudmark in to the picture. The issue I have with all of their answers is simple. I am AUTHENTICATING with a valid email account. I am not using port 25. I am not sending from a server. I am sending from a typical email client, in this instance, Thunderbird. Cox needs to fix this oversight. I do not use webmail, nor do I use IMAP. The purpose of using port 587 is for authenticating the user, not the connection. It should not matter where I am sending the message from as long as my login is valid. An error occurred while sending mail: The mail server sent an incorrect greeting: cxr-obgw-5004a.stratus.cloudmark.com cmsmtp xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx blocked. Refer to Error Codes section at www.cox.com/.../email-error-codes.html for more information. AUP#CXDNS. Thunderbird gives the correct greeting for an email client. Re: I can no longer get into my job portal (new fire wall) from home! You can also go to ipchicken.com, get your IP, and have them do a packet capture while you are trying to connect. This will identify if you are even getting there. As Becky mentioned, they may have implemented a VPN requirement so you have to run a client first. Re: Cox SMTP server on blacklist Here are questions that will help isolate the problem. Is your client configured to use smtp over port 587 over TLS? Check your settings. Has there been any change to your network's firewall? Do you have a residential or commercial account? Are you trying to connect out to a destined port 25 smtp server? Cox refuses to let residential customers connect out to destined port 25 for residential customers. The only way the will allow it is to sign up for a more expensive, slower, commercial account. Just like they refuse to provide for the purchase of static IP's by residential users. Do you have access to a telnet client or command shell on your Mac? if so, you can try to do this to see if you can connect or if you get a refused. telnet smtp.mail.me.com 25 (this will probably fail with a connection rejected) telnet smtp.mail.me.com 587 (this uses TLS and still may not work because the client won't have a cert, but you will still see a connection made) Re: My emails are all being marked as spam and so are everyone on my account. For 6 months I have been forwarding every single one to thisisnotspam@cox.net. When will this be fixed?! LauraBee, make sure you have a valid spf record for your mail domain, and that your ptr record matches. Also toss your message headers into here: https://mxtoolbox.com/EmailHeaders.aspx The resulting page will tell you if any of the IP addresses were blacklisted at the time. The resulting URL can likewise be provided to Cox and it will show them all the same headers. I could suggest more, but I don't know your specifics. Email security is my occupation for the last 6 years, so I do know a little bit. Just not about Cox servers, and their new Cloudmark based antispam service. Re: Cox SMTP server on blacklist FTR, 68.230.241.159 and 68.230.241.147 are both blacklisted on 0spam, Casa CBL, and Sorbs Spam Re: Is Cox email down again? Good chance. Do you know how to look at the internet headers of your messages? If so, go toss them here: https://mxtoolbox.com/EmailHeaders.aspx This will show where the delay was and how long it was to each hop. If you don't already know how to get them, search for how. A little knowledge goes a long way. Re: Is Cox email down again? Yup, I am seeing it too. No mail from my work, so hopefully they get their act together soon. This is becoming annoying.
