It is ironic that the only email account that I actually pay for (Cox) is the most technologically backward (POP3 only? No IMAP? In 2012, really?) and unreliable. It doesn't appear that Cox has made ANY upgrades or improvements to its email service in the 5+ years I have been using it. And it is the LEAST reliable email service I have ever experienced, both in the frequency and the duration of service interruptions. We are always warned against relying on free email services as our primary email account. But gmail, iCloud, even Yahoo (which isn't so great) have proven to be far more consistently reliable, current and up-to-date than my paid, Cox service. Caller ID We just switched to Cox Digital Telephone. On our old service, caller ID displayed the name of the person calling on our phones. With the new Cox phone service (using the same telephone handsets), all that displays is the telephone number. (No name) Is that all the Cox Service is capable of or is there a setting somewhere I need to set/adjust? Re: How do I set up email on my Android device? I would second that request for IMAP. In a world where almost everyone is accessing email from multiple devices (from their desktop, their phone, their portable devices), POP3 just doesn't cut it. It isn't a question of being able to leave a message on the server ... it is the inconvenience and high potential for miscommunication when you have to manually process each individual email separately on each separate device. (How many times do you look at an email on one device and have to ask yourself, "Did I respond to this one yet or not?" and how many times did you remember wrong?) It is also a little ironic that a paid internet/email service like Cox doesn't offer IMAP when almost every free email provider (gmail, yahoo, att, etc.) does. I really do want to make Cox my go-to provider for all my services ... but the outdated and minimally functional email provided makes it very hard to do so.
