However, I think that is a knock against Contour and may prevent me from switching. Re: Go to Contour? Yak. You should not be having these problems. I fought a non-Contour DVR for some time with several of the same problems - I think the DVR was overheating and it died on me a couple of days ago. I found the cooling fan had stopped. Lost many old shows and games I didn't get off DVR and onto DVD. I would get a new DVR if you're having problems. Re: Go to Contour? Thanks for your reply. I have found answers to several of my questions from several sources (including you). My questions are more directed at Contour 1 - I'm not interested in C2 or voice command. The question about the SWAP button and buffering of channels has not been answered (also asked as a separate question): Does the Contour 1 DVR's (2 and 6 channel). buffer both (or all 6) channels and for how long? This is different then recording - it's the automatic buffering in order to rewind live TV. Go to Contour? I presently have two DVR boxes. The one in the living room appears to be bad and will probably be replaced. I'm trying to decide if I should go to Contour instead and take advantage of whole house control and having ability to record 6 shows at once ( though I've never had to record more than two at once). Is it worth changing? I have several questions: Would I still have the SWAP button and feature with Contour? How are all the TV's attached to the DVR? Will I have cables to both TV's from one Contour DVR? Can an external drive be added to Contour DVR to expand capacity? Do I loose any other controls if I go to Contour box? OLd questions here seem to show that Contour doesn't have slow motion for recorded shows. Contour recording Does the new Contour 6 (and Contour 2) DVRs automatically store 6 (or 2) channels at the same time without setting up to record? My present DVRs (I have two) both auto record the channel each tuner is on and I can switch back and forth with the "SWAP" button. Is this feature available on the Contour DVRs? Re: modem firmware upgrades No. He specifically talked about the modem. He not only saw my equipment - we discussed that I had a separate router and modem. He also looked at the homepage/ status page of the modem. I still believe the problem - temporary that is was- was a problem with the COX router or signal, but COX either can't find and report the problem quickly or just won't admit such problems. I understand the problems with finding and reporting such problems which can be intermittent or small on a large network. I've done electrical (and digital) troubleshooting in the past and know how hard it can be. Everything works for now, I was just wondering how I would update my modem. If it is my ISP (COX in this case) - where would I find it or would it update automatically (which I'm not fully comfortable with). Sorry for delayed response, but since things are working, I forgot about this question. modem firmware upgrades I was having problems yesterday connecting to internet service. My modem kept restarting and the log said I the registration RSP was being rejected - along with a few other messages that I can't decipher. I set up an visit by a service tech. Today all is fine and service rep came and checked things out. He stated that I should update software in modem. The product site for modem says no update available. Latest firmware build for modem isJul 22 2016 08:13:57. Site also says that modem is updated by ISP provider (COX) due to testing with their systems. Tech said I should go to product vendor site to upgrade. Modem is Arris SB6141. Who is right and where do I get upgrades to modem software?
