I have had a Contour box connected to a Samsung flat screen TV for about 2 years. I've been powering down the box using the verbal command - press the microphone button on the remote control, say "Power Down" or "Sleep Now", which brings up a dialog box from which I select "Sleep Now". After about five seconds, the Contour box and the television will turn off. This has worked fine until about 2 weeks ago. Since then, after initial power down, and after a pause of about 20 seconds, the TV comes back on and displays a screen saver, which stays on indefinitely (I've awakened in the morning to find it this way). Apparently, the TV is receiving a signal from the cable, even though the Contour box power light is off. Anyone have any idea what's causing this? Re: Out of synch No I don't. Out of synch I got my Contour box earlier this year after having a previous generation box for several years. Since then, I've noticed that, when I watch a program that I have recorded, after a while, the video and audio get out of synch. I can get them back in synch by exiting the program, turning off the box and then turning it on again and resuming the program, but this is annoying. It's the same television, so I think the fault is in the Contour box. Any ideas how to fix it permanently? Re: Power down by voice The power down by voice is working again. If the is the result of Cox listening to its customers, then thank you. If it is due to an error, disregard this message. Re: Power down by voice It worked for about 3 months. How did it suddenly lose the ability? Power down by voice I used to turn off my Contour box by pressing the "Listen" button on the remote and saying "Power down", at which point the option to do that would appear on screen. All of a sudden, this doesn't work any more. Any idea why? Solved
