It's not listed on the actual site. Has the 10mb package in the HR area been discontinued? And if not how would i go about upgrading my package? I tried to do it earlier, but it asks for my social for a credit check. Typing my social over my computer is not something I really want to do, and the entire credit check is pointless if i already have service with you guys, no? Re: Constant disconnects Oh hi mom another disconnect. Please fix the node in my area/street. As for the cox techs question. No I am not using a router. I explained the issue and i do not want a tech INSIDE my house, because the problem is outside of it. I've been ripped off by cox in the past before i moved to where i am now where they sent out 4 techs to my house alone, replaced wires, added filter ect, and each time they left and the problem persisted and i was CHARGED for it. I am not your average customer. This problem is not coming from inside my house. As i have explained my neighbors have also called to report the same exact issue i am having. I will not pay to have a tech step in my door to pay them. Im fairly certain if they investigated the issues outside they will find the problem. Until then, I will keep this thread updated as the disconnects continue to get worse and more frequent. Re: Constant disconnects So last night was rather peaceful.. today it has not been so much.. The hub to the modem is dropping massive packets from 10% to 80% across the board but not enough to knock me offline, just bringing my internet to a crawl. the 3 lines i marked have been the outages so far as with 100%PL going from hub to modem you have no connection at all. lol. The other red lines are not disconnects but could be worrysome depending on how many packets the router is supposed to or not supposed to drop. The problems are originating from10.2.24.1 the first hop that goes to my modem. It starts at10.2.24.1 then everything else follows suite and it goes down the crapper. Re: Constant disconnects I also just downloaded and installed pingplotter. It'll ping google.com every 10 seconds and im graphing the first 2 hops on the connection with the router disconnected. So you can see a visual of just how many disconnects i receive in a 24 hour period alone with a good SNR I've also been asked multiple times. Yes, my cables are fine. They are new, in fact everything is and this is affecting even my neighbors. If multiple customers file a report ( your neighbor at that) the response should not be "We will send someone out to your home", then pay you guys to install a filter going to my cable modem and say they "fixed the issue." I may not be the smartest person in the world with my terrible grammar or what have you but I did graduate for networking security & system administration. I am frankly sick of talking to people who think I am ** on this issue as if im completely clueless and oblivious to how everything works. Its a huge issue, and its not inside my house and is also effecting my neighbors who've also reported the same issue. Later today i'll ask them to login to verify this and they will tell you the same thing. This is a go check the line on my street or the hub that our line is connected to. Constant disconnects New modem, NO router, new nic card, and 3 techs telling me my SNR is fine Yet I get disconnects 20-30 times a day lasting from 1 minute to 10 minutes. I have THREE different neighbors reporting the same problem. I try to talk to live chat and they want to send a tech to my house. I'm sorry, but im not paying that fee. My SNR is fine. My neighbor calls, his SNR is fine, and the third hasnt called yet and he is ready to cancel all together. I know you guys can look up my account information so for the love of your friend in the digital age, please send not a tech out to my house, but to my STREET to do a line quality test. This problem has gotten terribly unbearable and started 3 weeks ago, for me and my neighbors. So please.. can you put in a request to do a line test on my street as well as check out the hub that my street is connected too? Would it honestly kill you guys to do that? I've been thinking about upgrading since i need the upload speeds, but with this quality it's not even worth it to do until this problem is looked into. Check the complaint list. You'll see my neighbor called too with the EXACT same problem :/ As a side note the poll in our backyard is covered literally in a multitude of vines and wrapped up all in the lines. It looks like it belongs in a tropical jungle. And since its multiple neighbors with the issue i suspect thats what all our problems may be. Re: premier speeds upload speed is false if you're using the cox.net speed test. A tech told me in another post that the upload speed portion of the test shows the incorrect speed because what you're seeing in your upload speed is the powerboost which only lasts for files no larger than like 20mbs? I live in a totally different area but I would say that your download speed does sound about right though. premiere in my area is 30 down 6up if you want to get an "honest" and more accurate reading of your upload speeds try speedtest.net orhttp://testmy.net/uploadfor speed tests on your upload. I suggest other tests for other upload speed testing until cox fixes/resolves this issue to show your correct upload speed after the powerboost has ended. edit: many states/areas have different premier packages, so i could be totally wrong, but if your package states you should be getting 30 down, then yeah. You're good to go. If the package you got is saying you should be getting 50mb down or some other higher number you may have a problem. :V Re: Slow speeds after upgrade from DOCSIS 2 to DOCSIS 3 Hmm. That is extremely tempting since I really need the extra upload speed but its so hard to decide because I've gotten a fairly good price on my current plan and I don't want to lose it :( Thank you very much for the help and information though! Re: Frequent Disconnections DFW I'm having the same problem with my internet service. I'm going to terminate Cox's internet and go with another company. ----------- frankly the slow upload speeds offered in all their packages here in hampton roads. I would do the same if i had another service to go to. I think thats why hampton roads is getting shafted on speed upgrades because they really don't have any competition here :/ I also experience frequent disconnects like you. I've just learned to live with them sadly. Calling support is something i've always refused to do because all they offer to do is send a tech out to your house. Which you normally end up having to pay for and if i pay for the service I shouldnt be getting service charges for a tech visit. Oh well. Thats how life goes lol. Re: Slow speeds after upgrade from DOCSIS 2 to DOCSIS 3 So if i upgraded toPremier would i get solid speeds of 30/6 or what the cox.net site still shows for hampton roads of 25/3? The only thing stopping me from upgrading is the fact the package is 20 dollars more yet still has the same upload speed of only 3mb apparently. :/ Re: Slow speeds after upgrade from DOCSIS 2 to DOCSIS 3 Alrighty, so I did what you asked and the speed test on cox gives this result Fri May 24 2:49 PM Yes 21 Mbps 2 Mbps 32 millisec 68.13.196.94 Northern Virginia I know I shouldn't complain because that test is giving me my speeds i pay for, but before the upgrade i always managed to push 4-6Mbps upload steadily. Other speed tests i've used on other multiple sites always gave me the same readings and are now much lower, though again theres been no change in download speeds. I do have another question as well. on dsl-reports a verified cox tech mentioned that hampton roads and nova got speed increases of 30/6 even though it does not show that on the website. Has this actually happened, just not yet hit my part of hampton roads? I rely heavily for a decent upload speed to stream quality gaming footage to my viewers and the 100 dollar package is sadly too expensive for me at this time :(
