Re: High Latency Spikes Causing Issues with Online Gaming Chris, I am not sure what part of the most recent results I posted looks different than the original 2. There are definitely lag spikes starting at hop 2 (10.115.0.1) and continuing to the destination. You can see this in both the graph at the bottom and the grey horizontal bars in the top right. Re: High Latency Spikes Causing Issues with Online Gaming Yes same results with router bypassed. Here is a screenshot. Looks like a faulty or highly congested node. https://www.dropbox.com/s/d2v4uouygdnxin6/Router%20Bypassed%20Spikes.PNG?dl=0 High Latency Spikes Causing Issues with Online Gaming I have been having issues with lag spikes during online games. I was able to do a ping plot to the server that the game is on and found that the second hop is where these spikes originate. I am hard wired to the router and have separate router and modem. Ping Plot to the game server: https://www.dropbox.com/s/spldsv7wyl8vxvd/Lag%20Spikes%20to%20Apex%20Server.PNG?dl=0 Ping Plot to the suspect hop IP only: https://www.dropbox.com/s/eyiy9uuk77ck53g/Lag%20Spike%20to%202nd%20Hop.PNG?dl=0 Re: Severe packet loss (Upload) to amazon web services (Fortnite) - UPDATE 1/9 Kevin, Here is a ping plot to AWS. Packet loss starts around the 6th hop. https://www.dropbox.com/s/gdh9l94zbd720pi/Packet%20Loss%20to%20AWS%20on%20Cox%20Network.png?dl=0 Re: Severe packet loss (Upload) to amazon web services (Fortnite) - UPDATE 1/9 Becky, We had a tech come out on Sunday and he put an attenuator right behind modem. Looks like it brought the upstream power up a bit. Unfortunately we are still experiencing very high packet loss to AWS (Fortnite and Overwatch). What's the next step? Re: Severe packet loss (Upload) to amazon web services (Fortnite) - UPDATE 1/9 Thanks for the response Becky. What aredesired downstream and upstream power levels and SNR on your network? I havehave seen upstream up to about 30-32 dbmv but not any higher than that. Re: Severe packet loss (Upload) to amazon web services (Fortnite) - UPDATE 1/9 Same here. Past couple months upload packet loss has gotten very noticeable in online gaming. Don't notice to much during normal internet browsing but there have been times when speeds have dropped down to 1-2 mbps. Can be seen on Fortnite the easiest as they have a netstat tool that shows packet loss % during the game. Mine will range from 2-10% on a good day but during peak times will go up to 50-60%. Was told that our modem may be the issue by tech support so went and bought an Arris sb8200. No change but did notice that upstream power levels seem to be very low, 25-29 dbmv, when the manual says they should be mid to high 40's.
