ContributionsMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: EMAIL ERROR The irritating popup asking for your password started again today - at least if accepts the password this time. I got tricked into signing up for paperless delivery on Costco card - so I called Citi to make sure I can print upcoming rebate from website (I can). Cox is making changes again probably without testing the changes- this time webmail on my wifes I-phone is flakey after it was working.- sometimes emails which came in in Outlook appear, sometimes they don't. The shortcut I placed to take me to myemail.cox.net takes me to a different place each time and even after I get the correct site and log in some e-mails are missing. I have only one group with 32 recipients so it was not a huge issue to split to 4 groups. In my case at least - Cox increased traffic instead of decreasing. But I'm very careful to make SURE no more paperless billing since I have no confidence in Cox as my e-mail service provider. I actually missed one payment because didn't see the e-mail - and I assumed I accidently trashed it with the mega qty of spam. Now I'm wondering if I ever received it - though of course Cox would blame it on Citi/Costco if I did not. Re: EMAIL ERROR I changed the password and it works. Socal transplant said it may be only temporary but it works for now. Also, as Socaltransplant said it was a nightmare. myemailcox.net had trouble changing it so I logged on to cox.com. It would not let me change it either (supposedly) saying it did not recognize the old password I logged on with!. I was hesitant to logout thinking I may never be able to get in again. On the advice of a Level 2 tech (took hour to get and phone battery went dead waiting so had to call again). I logged out . In desperation and on her recommendation I tried to login - password invalid. I tried the "new" password and it worked. Cox seems to have a problem with password synchro btwn incoming, outgoing, and cox.com. The reason webmail did not work was they moved the website address from what it was - was never explained in any correspondence I could find. Re: EMAIL ERROR Thanks Transplant - I think I'll wait to change my password - you would think if inbound is working and cox.com login is working the outbound I'm having trouble with it would be up to Cox to release a "general solution" and synch the passwords which have to all be the same. I'll wait for confirmation that that's the way to go. The more I thought of it the less sense it made. At least Cox seems to be acknowledging there is a problem - when I did online chat and phone support the only answer I got was "everything's fine call Microsoft". Re: EMAIL ERROR Thanks Becky - I just want to make sure you're aware that I can RECEIVE e-mails fine - just sending is a problem. So the incoming server recognizes my password which is the same as Cox login - but the outgoing does not (doesn't Cox synchronize them?). I just wanted to make sure you are aware of this before I follow your instructions to reset my password. Re: EMAIL ERROR Becky - two more items before I try what you say 1. When I try to use cox e-mail on my iPhone 4 will it automatically ask for new password? 2. There may be reason to believe it's more than a password issue because I did actually send e-mails to myself after clicking "repair connection" but it worked only one time each time and when I looked at Outlook it had changed the port settings back to the pre Jan 28 settings - which would seem to indicate at least the password was good. Re: EMAIL ERROR Becky - Before I do this I have one question - my cox login password and e-mail pass word are the same - does this mean I will have a different password for the e-mail or do I have to change the cox.net password also? I was under the impression that they should be the same. Re: EMAIL ERROR Outlook 2007 - on any e-mail (even with no attachments) I try to send I get a popup asking for my password for smtp.cox.net.The popup won't go away. It gives up for a while and gives the message "Task 'jannymv1@cox.net - Sending' reported error (0x800CCC92): Your e-mail server rejected your login. " It then goes on to say check my settings which I've done about 20 times like others on this forum. Re: EMAIL ERROR 1. Windows Mail I can send an e-mail to myself - when I try to send it to send work I get the message "We weren't able to send the message so we've put it in your Drafts folder. Before you try sending it again, you can check to see if the address is correct and that no attachments are too large." I've tried several e-mail addresses I know are valid and get the same message - the attachment is an 11 kb excel file. I have successfully sent e-mails to friends yesterday with windows mail with no attachments. I sent a test e-mail to my gmail with no attachments and got the same message. I can only e-mail myself. I'll post Outlook error separately since Forum obviously has character limitation. Re: EMAIL ERROR Thanks John - it's good to see others are having same problem. I get a message that I can not log on the outgoing mail server with Outlook 07. When I called Cox last nite they said "everythings fixed now - call Microsoft". Yeah right - I'm supposed tell MSFT "your practically universally used software does not work after Cox made a change - fix it." At least you indicate they know they have a problem (though not necessarily that they're willing to fix it) - we had friends who had problems after Cox made other "upgrades" but this is first time it happened with us. I also get the "relaying not allowed" message sometimes. Re: EMAIL ERROR What an absolutely ridiculous reply from Cox!
