Re: 1 TB cap overage charges lol - Cox Seriously though, if you think you going to go over, just get the unlimited data plan. Re: Less Spam these days. Yippee! I prefer to use GMail. Has one of the best Spam filters around. You could always have your cox.net email forwarded to GMail so you don't lose anything from Cox Pointless Fee for moving? So, let me get this straight. I already have service with you guys. I moved to a new place. Already wired and ready to go. I go through the "Move my Service" process, choose date, confirm. I take my current existing modem, plug it in. Everything works, a 5 second process. (maybe 6 or 7, twisting the coax to the wall was a lot of twisting!) I get charged a $20 "Internet Self Activation Kit" Fee. Seriously? I didn't get no Self Activation Kit (not like I needed it in the first place, already had my own modem from my ALREADY CURRENT ACTIVE service). No Technician had to come and turn on the service at the pole or anything (service has been setup and active here). I only plugged the wire in to the wall, powered on the modem, and was on the way. Re: Who is responsible when Data Usage meter doesn't update? Yes, I am aware that it is not real time. It usually updates the next day. The issue is that after a FEW DAYS, it would still show 0, only to update like a week later. Last month, it happened at the end of my cycle. It showed 0 on a day until a few days after my current cycle started. This is a problem near the end, because if I used 20GB on that day, but only shows 0 for a week, any unsuspecting user can think he has an extra 20GB, only to get charged after the fact. I check via browser logging into my Cox account. My own personal BW monitor is installed on the router itself (bwmon for ddwrt). That is on top of the bandwidth monitor that ddwrt itself has. Who is responsible when Data Usage meter doesn't update? I have run into situations where near the end of my billing cycle, the Cox Bandwidth Usage will "stop working". It will skip days, and show my usage for those days as 0. It will continue to show 0, even after a few days. Other days will be fine, as if that 1 or 2 days usage was "lost". Then, a few days later (and often after the cycle has reset), it will suddenly have the usage for those "skipped" days, and shows the usage for those days, as if nothing happened. Seems like a scummy thing to do if we are responsible for this screw ups on Cox's end. We don't have an accurate reading on what usage we have used, and are not properly updated. And if we were to go over, and then call in after the "missed" days usage has been added, we are on the hook for the overage. Luckily for me, I have a separate BW monitor, but I can imagine other people running into this and getting screwed by this. Re: Cox Hijacking DNS again I think I figured it out. IPv6 DNS was not configured Re: Cox Hijacking DNS again Checked, No viruses and really? blame a virus? a virus that would be to Cox's benefit? Is Cox writing viruses now to force DNS to use Cox no matter what? (talk about an odd, very specific virus). Then again, Cox does hijack our pages to add html to site pages so I guess that wouldn't be out of the question. Re: Forwarding Email Settings > Inbox (Show more Options) > Auto Forward Re: Cox Hijacking DNS again Unfortunately, it is not a Pi-Hole problem. I have connected the modem directly to my computer. Changed DNS to the DNS that is supposed to turn off hijacking (68.105.28.13,68.105.29.13).Reset both computer and modem. Flushed DNS. Still hijacking Changed DNS to Google DNS STILL hijacking Changed to other DNS services STILL HIJACKING Would like to know what I need to do in order to turn off hijacking. The fact that I am using Google DNS and still getting hijacked sounds like Cox is forcing its way in somehow still and not giving us any choice.
