ContributionsMost RecentMost LikesSolutionsRe: Problem with traffic to Blizzard servers (World of Warcraft) via Cogentco Chris, These problems all cropped up when the routing was changed from using a XO connection, to a Cogent connection sometime early last week. Quote As frustrating as the situation is for all of us there really isn't anything we can do. It's not our network that's broken. The people at Cogento/AT&T/Blizzard are aware of the issue and are reported to be taking steps to correct the problem. Why can't Cox reroute that traffic back onto the XO connection until the Cogent issue is resolved? Why isn't that something that has already happened? I believe its offensive to dangle a carrot on a stick solution of 'an upgrade is in the works' as anyone in the IT business knows how long something like thatcan take to plan and implement. The majority of my internet usage is my World of Warcraft account, and as of now I am left wondering why I pay $50+ a month to have a Cox customer service rep say that’s the way its going to be for the foreseeable future, when just last week it worked fine. Boggles my mind... It’s not like something broke, someone changed something, and you (Cox) are the only ones that can resolve this issue in atimely manner. Instead of finding an appropriate solution (rerouting the traffic), you instead want your paying customers to just '*** it up' and take the latency problems until another company (that doesn't seem to have much motivation to solve this issue in a timely manner) solves the issue at their leisure. I don’t disagree the problem is outside of your network, but I do disagree that there is nothing that can be done, as illustrated by this working last week just fine when the data is routed through different servers. It can happen (the rerouting), more than likely a lot easier than waiting for those other companies to get around and resolving a problem that by all accounts has been happening for quite a while. (Someone on dslreports.com is showing history of two month of this problem with AT&T and Cogent) Thanks for your time and continued replies in the thread Chris! Re: Problem with traffic to Blizzard servers (World of Warcraft) via Cogentco I also am experiencing the exact same issues. I connect to the Rampage batllegroup (Chicago Datacenters)from the Mesa, AZ area, and have seen my latency spike to unplayable levels since Tuesday of last week (Jan 8th). I'd love it if someone at Cox could take a good look at this issue, as there isn't a darn thing us as end users can do other than point out there's a problem, and hope for the best! There's a good thread on dslreports.com about this as well. Re: McAfee Security Suite I'm experiencing the same problems. If I disable the Mcafee Security software provided by Cox, via the Real Time scanner disable, my internet will speed back up, and I am once again able to download files. If that is enabled, I have extreme lag at loading webpages, and typically when downloading files, it will proceed 1-2 percent, and the stop and never resume. If I cancel the download, and try again, it might make it another 1-2 percent and then stop again. I have a 2nd pc on the same internal network, with the Cox software. At this point, I am thinking it has something to do with WIndows 7, and the Cox security software. My 2nd pc has windows xp running on it with the Cox software, and has no problems browsing to the same websites or downloading files. In addition it seems that other internet connectivity programs are not affected. Ping times to websites can have a single or a couple very slow returns, but for the most part are pretty normal speeds. This problem only started happening over the last few days, I have no errors in the event logs, and at this point am getting ready to unstall mcafee until this problem can be resolved. Anyone else experiencing the same problems? If so are your pc's windows 7 with the Cox Security Suite?
